  1. Worked over my 150 TTSX data one last time and loaded a couple boxes Weatherby cases/ 81gr H4350 for what should be 3325fps average and box of the RP/Nosler/Norma/Hornady mixed Brass 79.5gr H4350/ 3328 average. Close enough, on to the next project! I have 100+ mixed headstamp cases 30-06 trimmed/ chamfered/ flash holed. (Flash holes were the worst, volcano like, hard to get the tool into the crater) Think I'll just weigh them and sort into batches, weight should translate to volume more or less. See how close I can get with these. Does anyone still uniform the necks or is that too OG?
  2. Never mind, see your build in your other post. Thanks!
  3. What gas block did you go with? Did you single dimple or was there room on the journal for 2? This is going to be one of those "The part was on sale so I built the whole gun around it" stories, nothing new on this forum! I'll keep everyone posted as I round up parts.
  4. Cool. Did you go with the hole size or open it up a little bit? Looks a lot smaller then my 18" barrel
  5. Sig 12.5 308 gas port looks like it's too far forward on the journal, shouldn't it be about a half inch off the stop? Nothing a hack with some machine tools like myself can't overcome. The 716 is apparently a piston system.
  6. Sig 12.5 308 gas port looks like it's too far forward on the journal, shouldn't it be about a half inch off the stop? Nothing a hack with some machine tools like myself can't overcome.
  7. I found a 4in and a 4.5 in comp looks similar to above 40-45 bucks. Think Ill use that for the build and switch to the can afterwards. May chuck it in the lathe and turn it down to a little under .750 before I pin it on. Or after?
  8. Maybe a little late jumping in here, from my limited experience increase buffer weight first, then catch up the with the heavier spring if needed. A light buffer/ heavy spring combo makes matters worse.
  9. Two Sig M400 .223 16" non threaded. Last week 12.5" Sig Sauer (threaded) in .308 showed up, think it was $53.00 with shipping. Not sure how much fun a 308 pistol would be, thinking of maybe pinning a 3.5" flash can on it after sorting things out.
  10. Counting antler points on a critter a few hundred yards out is kinda tough with a peep sight, just saying... 🦌
  11. Just pulled the trigger on two of them. zero tax, zero shipping $99.98 for the pair. Worst case I have some barrel grade lathe stock.
  12. buying out all the 49.00 sig barrels this week...
  13. I'm seeing Sig Sauer barrels are on sale $49.99 to $89.99, Are these: 1.) Mill Spec in the AR15 platform? 2.) Decent quality/ accuracy? I see in another thread the 12.5" 308 barrel was Spec except for gas tube length, any experience with their Carbine and rifle length barrels? Very tempting for my current 223 carbine build, 16" non threaded barrel, maybe clamp in the mill and cut a 3 gill comp into the end, maybe just run as is. https://www.cdnnsports.com/sig-sauer-m400-16-5-56-1-7.html?___SID=U#.XTNP9utKiUk
  14. I also subscribe to loaddata.com, gianormous amount of information.
  15. https://www.barnesbullets.com/load-data/ online manual plus updates.
  16. Barnes has an online book, curious if it is the same as the printed version I have moved to Barnes in several magnum calibers and slowly moving them into standard velocity calibers. waiting to recover a couple from game for final verdict but accuracy wise they are good bullets.
  17. I just put the lapping compound on the scope and then ductape it to the chuck on my cordless drill. Spin it for 5 or 10 minutes while slowly torquing the caps, good to go.
  18. Looking for a 14.5in 5.56 barrel Midway has their version for about 72 bucks. Anyone run one? mixed reviews mostly good.
  19. That's the one I have, but don't remember the spring drill adapter? Have to look in the box...
  20. I don't, but couldn't hurt. I have a vortex 30mm cantilever un mounted, may just try the honing bar in it for fun. I would always mark the caps if they come assembled.
  21. Thanks What would be a good price for the M5?
  22. I was talking to the seemingly knowledgeable guy behind the counter when I was getting the Aero Gen 2 X15 lower and he said the Aero M5 I was also looking at was non spec (non DPMS Spec.) Said he tried to mate it up with a M&P 308 Upper and no bueno. normally I would have started arguing with him whether I knew what I was talking about or not, but it's Friday, cold beer at home, so I took my purchase and left. So is the Aero M5 non DPMS or is the Smith non DPMS?
  23. Guy I work with is itching for a build, I told him you can't go wrong with Aero. I stopped by Outdoor Emporium about 4 blocks from the office on the way home and Aero Gen 2 $72.00, sent him a text, then went back in and bought the last one. (I justified it knowing they will have more in next week...) Snooze you loose...
  24. Thanks for the vote of confidence! I like to see SD's less then 10 for rifle, but if you play with a dope sheet with magnum rifle velocities it takes a lot more then that before you could even measure the difference at 500 yards. Revolvers are the worse offenders, forcing cone gap blowing pressure off, un-even cylinders, if I get an SD in the under 30 range with a magnum revolver load that's an accomplishment.
