  1. One more, why not...
  2. Also, looking at the hole opposite, it has bluing and cosmaline in it so my guess is not drilled after the fact.
  3. Must be some other reason they are going for dirt cheap. Maybe buy a couple more just for safe ballast
  4. What he said. Both the Toolcraft and the JBO special went in and rotated properly with the pin in the 223 barrel. Located dead center over the extractor. Took the bcg out of the Anderson AM10 because I haven't got one yet for the 308 barrel yet operated fine.
  5. I noticed the pin in my 308 barrel as well, didn't notice it in the 223 barrels, have to check again. As I've said before, nothing a hack with a few tools can't overcome
  6. 49 dollar barrel is better then starting with a roll pin... You are way ahead of the game. a 4" muzzle device will put you right at 16. I found a 4-1/2" steel, weighs about 10 lbs. Think I'm going to chuck it in the lathe and put it on a diet.
  7. I like the Geissele, but I'm thinking adjustable. I have the tech to pin any block if I need to. I mocked up the 12-1/16 tube in the upper assembly, 7/8" long, so need a 11-3/16 tube to hit dead center of the receiver cutout. Other option is to move the hole back, the gas block would block the original hole while it gummed up with carbon, or I could drill/ tap a set screw into it. Thinking the custom tube is the easiest option.
  8. Quick detatch handguards seem to be the rave, Faxxon is replacing their pinned/welded 14.5/16in with one that looks to be machined right into the barrel, kinda like what I was thinking of doing with the Sig barrel.
  9. Went up to triggercon this morning, lots of good vendors. Aero Precision to Zev. Really liked the CMC and JP EZ, the JP comes with a short throw ambi safety and anti walk pins. Vendor thought they were going for 160 or so but they were not selling any there. Looks like a $189.00 or so online. Pretty nice trigger, good price with the safety and pins. Everyone needs a suppressed Barrett...
  10. Looking for a 10 in round floating guard and a .75" gass block that clears inside diameter. Lots of options in the 223/556 size, Not finding much for the 308. Need about 1.75"-1.8" ID to clear most of the low pro blocks. Ideas?
  11. I waited till I was back at the office computer and opened it anyway. No ill effects, other thdtr ther ft vit v#$ NHTSA .
  12. Oh, man... Just stumbled on to an oops kit, that should get 3 or 4 builds going...
  13. Hard to beat a roll pin. We're not worthy
  14. Digging through the parts bin, came across a 12-1/16" gass tube. Primary Arms has low pro gas blocks on sale for 9 bucks. Good to go, right?
  15. Worked over my 150 TTSX data one last time and loaded a couple boxes Weatherby cases/ 81gr H4350 for what should be 3325fps average and box of the RP/Nosler/Norma/Hornady mixed Brass 79.5gr H4350/ 3328 average. Close enough, on to the next project! I have 100+ mixed headstamp cases 30-06 trimmed/ chamfered/ flash holed. (Flash holes were the worst, volcano like, hard to get the tool into the crater) Think I'll just weigh them and sort into batches, weight should translate to volume more or less. See how close I can get with these. Does anyone still uniform the necks or is that too OG?
  16. Never mind, see your build in your other post. Thanks!
  17. What gas block did you go with? Did you single dimple or was there room on the journal for 2? This is going to be one of those "The part was on sale so I built the whole gun around it" stories, nothing new on this forum! I'll keep everyone posted as I round up parts.
  18. Cool. Did you go with the hole size or open it up a little bit? Looks a lot smaller then my 18" barrel
  19. Sig 12.5 308 gas port looks like it's too far forward on the journal, shouldn't it be about a half inch off the stop? Nothing a hack with some machine tools like myself can't overcome. The 716 is apparently a piston system.
  20. Sig 12.5 308 gas port looks like it's too far forward on the journal, shouldn't it be about a half inch off the stop? Nothing a hack with some machine tools like myself can't overcome.
  21. I found a 4in and a 4.5 in comp looks similar to above 40-45 bucks. Think Ill use that for the build and switch to the can afterwards. May chuck it in the lathe and turn it down to a little under .750 before I pin it on. Or after?
  22. Maybe a little late jumping in here, from my limited experience increase buffer weight first, then catch up the with the heavier spring if needed. A light buffer/ heavy spring combo makes matters worse.
  23. Two Sig M400 .223 16" non threaded. Last week 12.5" Sig Sauer (threaded) in .308 showed up, think it was $53.00 with shipping. Not sure how much fun a 308 pistol would be, thinking of maybe pinning a 3.5" flash can on it after sorting things out.
  24. Counting antler points on a critter a few hundred yards out is kinda tough with a peep sight, just saying... 🦌
