  1. Thank you 98, nothing I would love more than meeting up with your and Matt at the SDTF, and I could live here on base forever, I LOVE the boneyard, those beautiful C-130's look ready to rock and roll. I'm gonna try to get over to the Pima Air Museum, the boneyard tours are closed due to covid, which really sucks... Thanks for the invite Bro,, it is greatly appreciated as the honor it would be! and I will be back here in town
  2. Good morning Tucson! I drove by the C-130's in the boneyard, I'd like to take one home! My boy was happy to see Grandma, and I waited behind the corner, but when I stepped out, he started squalling, my little surprise back-fired.. but after I got down on the floor and played with him two minutes the light bulb came on. He was a little overwhelmed I'd say...
  3. We are flying out Monday noonish or so, I would LOVE to be in town for the duration of your little shin-dig, today was wifeys first visit to the high desert, she is very impressed.. I'm just soaking in my Grandson, I missed that boy! He's gonna have his first birthday. We've had a 3 day drive, a wedding, a visit with another daughter, and now we are here, we spent last night in Santa Rosa, very nice town, clean and worth the visit.
  4. Well, I'm relaxing on a nice plush couch, visiting my Daughter, Grandson, and new Son in Law, and yes, I did indeed drive past the "Boneyard" today, and I'd like to take them all home, especially that really sharp taped up MC-130E, it could be the bird my old man was flying down below the trees in the spring of 68! He was in the right seat of course, he was an IP in the 130, with a pair of khaki's and white T shirt, with a ciggy hanging from his lower lip?? (he smoked a pipe and burnt "Mixture 79") any good gun shops in Tucson??
  5. yeah, just wait till you have to mow the grass, looks like something my wife would buy! my Mom had that cast iron lawn furniture, that crap would fold up on you when you tried to move it, especially the "love seat", lol! my wife says can I plant these flowers here??? sure, I'll probably mow them down in the next week or two anyway!
  6. Well the WC-15 billet upper with NO forward assist is now out of stock again, they still have the F/A billet upper, but I prefer the slick side.. On another note, I have now fired 60 rounds of Tula 5.56 steel case, functions in the weapon fine, but had difficulty stripping the top round off my 5 round aluminum ASC magazines, the bolt started to pick it up, but then overode the top round, the steel ASC magazine functions the bomb... The top round seemed to have a negative angle of attack for some reason, there wasn't much bounce in the magazine spring to reset it either. So 4 magazines each jammed on the first round in 2 separate rifles, which each functioned very well with the ammo, ejection was outstanding, feeding after the first round was outstanding, accuracy was acceptable. a lot better than nothing! What are your experiences with Tulammo or even Wolf steel case for that matter?
  7. Wilson Combat has all three varieties of WC-10, and Billet WC-15 uppers and LOWERs in stock if you are interested?? I was contemplating building a 6.5 Creed billet upper for my rifle, but, Wilson has LOTS of 300 HamR ammo in stock, lots of it... Of course I'm officially "dithering", hell, I'd love to shoot somebody else's 300 HamR just to see? on a high note?? maybe, the local farm store has some steel case Tula in 5.56 and 7.62, I bought some 5.56 and its the bomb so far, anybody tried their 7.62?? Damn, I'm glad the house is done and I can get out to shoot...!! no dithering there, I've been operating my son's Rock River 5.56, that damn thing is the bomb!
  8. Kool, my Dad found an old Cannonball when we lived at Walter Hill, Tn, between Nashville and Murfreesboro, the battle of Stones River was something else... I did enjoy our school trip to the Stones River Battleground Park, it was amazing, but its been a heck of a long time ago!
  9. "Will Robinson" daddy O! will smith?? he's married to that jayda pinkett smith, yikes, I haven't told you guys I was seriously in love with "Marta Christen"! God she is gorgeous!

That Mathews has rewarded me with a "Robin Hood", shattered that cheap "Chi Com Arrow", and blew that nock to pieces!
  11. As am I, they were showing the Wilson Nickel Boron 308/6.5 Creed BCG in stock, when I added it to the cart, it came back as a 5 to 8 week wait?? Your issue was cause by them having three separate gas tubes listed at 13.25 inches, I did notice one was a carbine length, so I did a little sorting around and came up with the I for intermediate length...
  12. Dang, that stinks, but my 13.25 inch Intermediate tube arrived today, it is a little beauty, the first and cheapest part of the object of my present dithering... NOW, if it was the last piece I needed, it would prolly be on back order for the next 6 months...
  13. Where in Obamastan?? I live in Central Obamastan? you need some serious help at this stage. I will give you my gun guys phone # if you want, he's a former marine, local cop, and a very straight up guy, he's got the blocks and wrenches. I'll even call him and give you an introduction, it's possible you've got something slightly out of kilter, that can be "tweaked" to bring it back into operating spec... but more than likely your first hunch that you have seriously "tweaked" your upper or lower, or both is probably where we are headed.... We are here because in your desire to "improve" your weapon ( a noble desire that, but engineers may actually know more than we give them credit for) and in your zeal to do so, you Bubba dat girl, and she mad, she may not ever play nice wit you again... so playin it straight, like your ole Gpa, "when you are in deep shiite, over your head, don't let your knot headed desire to "figure it out on your own", cause you to drown in it... as you have already demonstrated, aluminum does NOT like to to be beat on or twisted, it just don't... Aluminum is a light, pretty metal that is best for making beer cans and aeroplanes. Note that all the really important parts on your weapon, BCG, Barrel, etc. etc. are made out of good ole US STEEL, those two big pieces of aluminum just keep them socializing in a polite and expeditious manner. Don't even think about lighting this weapon off until you have it squared away, and back in operating condition. Your kids need a fully functioning DADDY, a lot more than you need to do any more experimenting, so lets get this girl in, and get her checked out, if it goes into battery on the first round? and then locks up when you manually attempt to cycle the action, its possible your are putting it in some kind of a bind... an AR is a magnificent weapon, and in all actuality, its function is rather brutal and requires a lot of gas and timing to function properly, and as some here have begun to grow weary telling us, it all has to be balanced... shoot me a pm, shoot me your telly, we can talk about it, if your close? you can bring it by?? but more than likely, you need somebody to hook a chain on your butt and pull you out of the deep serious shiite! first you've got to get out, then you can fix whats broke, yes its been an expensive lesson, makes you mad, beat it with a pipe wrench mad, now its time to pick up the pieces, clean it all up, get it all lined up, and let somebody who understands how it should work, fix it for ya... and yeah, I got lots of broke shiite out behind the barn, and I buried a hell of lot more of it when I buried my "junk ditch"! so I do understand, I really do... billy
  14. Yep, I ordered one myself this afternoon in 13.25 for a 16" .308 or 6.5 Creed that I'm dithering on building, lol, shooterex did your tube ever come in? I'm sure their site stated they had 308 BCG in nickle boron, so I attempted to put it in my cart, it then switched to 5 to 8 weeks before delivery, Brownell's sight does the same thing. Wilson has not had this particular BCG in stock since March.. So I went ahead and ordered the gas tube, by the time I paid tax and shipping its dam near 20 bucks...
  15. When you go to our forum home page and select BCG from the list of topics on the right, Brownell's site come with Wilson Combat nickel boron BCG as in stock, when you click "add to cart", it comes back 5 to 8 weeks for delivery,,, Wilson hasn't had their nickle boron BCG in stock since before March, and now, its changed in their catalog to have forward assist cuts? what the hell?? they do finally have Bill et uppers and two .308 BCG's in stock at present....
  16. WTF- i did NOT write "little female cat cat", I did NOT... I wrote " little .30 cal", we must have some kinda "facebook style algorithm" shiite going on here!
  17. I just placed and order for a Wilson Combat intermediate length gas tube from Optics Planet for a 16" Wilson Combat barrel.. I'm dithering very seriously about whether or not to build a another Wilson Combat upper for my 18" Tactical Hunter rifle... Wilson does not have them in stock, they have everything else with the exception of the BCG... the round count on my current BCG is so low it wouldn't bother me to swap it into a new upper... Two major factors in the present dithering,,, 6.5 Creed, ( I know I need one, I'm just stuck on the little female cat cat 30 cal) or .308, all of 98's "preaching" about about a short handy 16" rifle, have me sold on the short barrel, and his quarter bore infatuation a-l-m-o-s-t has me sold on the 6.5 Creed??? Dang I wish I didn't have this infatuation with .30 Cal, dammit!! but it I didn't, hell I wouldn't be here at all now would I?? and Wilson does have the Paul Howe 6.5 Creed barrel in stock at the present moment??... So in the short term I would have a shorter barrel big bore, and when Wilson restocks their BILLet lowers, I'll build a lower for my new upper and have two big bore AR's.. I'm glad I have a big bore AR, there is NO 5.56 to be had here in Central Obamastan, and Walmart is no longer carrying .308 or 7.62 at my local stores, they do have a sheite ton of 6.5 Creed though?? so there's no place to dither like .308 AR forum, at least I've got lots of company, and I know I'll catch a lot of Krappola for dithering.... Hell, I'm still kicking my own azz every day for not dropping the hammer on "little red", that gorgeous 70 Z-28 that I could have traded my old 81 Black Firebird for with a small boot of around 40 K, dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit! I had it all laid out for my little women, talked to her about money and specifics, she just ignored me as usual, until I said he's coming Friday with "little red" on the trailer to pick up the Firebird, then she lit up like the "Spacex Dragon",,, three days later she fired up again. Dumb azz, that's one fight I should have stepped out of cover and "opened up on", shiet, I'm getting too damnably old... don't get me wrong, I have a great wife, awesome wife, she looks half my age, has helped me paint the house, and works her butt off, but dammit, she just doesn't get flying, cars, or guns!
  18. Yes, I realize this is a zombie post, I knew you guys had lots of bad habits, I'm still riding my old Cannondale R700, and an 06 Pinarello Prince that I built from the frame up, that frame hung on the wall of a local (only an hour away) LBS. My daughter has my old Cannondale R700 56 cm, and I converted the 53 cm into a flat bar road bike for my wife.. I built the Pinarello up as a flat bar with old Shiman 9 speed stuff which I had imagined would be cheaper, but in the end cost a krap load of cash... I probably should have just gone with Campy, but I love the looks/function of Shimano's 9 speed equipment, yeah, aesthetics gets expensive, and now I most just pedal around the neighborhood, been way too long since I've even been out on the black top, which is now nasty "chip and seal" garbage that eats your tires and causes lots of flats....
  19. Outstanding diagnostic my friend! +1
  20. Yep, a young lad such as yourself was killed during a Fulton recovery demo in Germany? If I recall, I knew very little about the "black bird" or what my Dad did in South East Asia... As a Hospice Chaplain I was sitting in a nursing home with one ofmy patients who was passing, she was a teacher, with 4 adopted children. I was visiting with the daughter, telling her about losing my Dad to cancer, when she asked what he did? I told her he was a pilot in the USAF. She then proceeded to do what NO WOMEN EVER do, she asked? What did he fly? and I said the C-130. She said "I design radars for C-130's, and I said "NO you don't, why would you be designing a radar for a 50 year old airlifter? She said, "its a terrain following radar", and I told her my Dad flew a C-130 in Vietnam with terrain following radar. She stated, "that was the Combat Talon I, I design radars for the Combat Talon II"
  21. Yeah! is that the one that chick was holding up the page?? bear scat now??
  22. My Dad was a 130 pilot, worked for MACV out of the US Embassy from the fall of 67 till the fall of 68, he had about 75 hrs of logged time in the MC-130E in country, had some beautiful slides of the Fulton recovery system being tested, from inside and outside the airplane, loaned them to a Col, they never came back,, wish I had those now....
