Awesome wall Brother, and I was mildly tempted to go with a crossbow as they are now legal here in Central Obamastan, and had I been unable to manage my new compound, that was my next step... my little brother switched over to a high dollar crossbow, (some are close to 308 AR money)... and he loved it. He passed from pancreatic cancer in February after fighting it 18 months, he gave it a hell of a fight! He had a couple of really nice deer similar to your's, but I've always hunted on the ground, yes I've been in a few tree stands, but I love to be on the ground and using available cover.. I love seeing my arrows fly, and to that end I had the Cobalt blue X7's fletched with 5" pink and white feathers,, few things are more beautiful than watching a beautifully constructed arrow fly true to its target, the one thing archers have over shooters, although I have heard that with some antique weapons you might also see your projectile in flight, lol... I do shoot the carbons, and although I had only given perfunctory attention to my bows the last 10 years, it is coming back, and that TRX is a longer axle to axle bow, and very smooth on release.. I will pray for you Brother, I hate it that you are no longer able to get out there with your bow, but I have no doubt you will find a way to make that crossbow earn its keep, until you are healed up enough to get back to the "stik and string'!! In the meantime, be patient, with the involvement of all those bone and muscles, do your PT, but do NOT rush your recovery, give yourself the time to heal properly, and I have no doubt that in a year or so, you are back in business... that crosbow will keep you occupied in the meantime... Take your time with your rifle as well, was it your left shoulder or right? Hang in there Bub, in the meantime, feel free to tell us about some of those hunts, there's a bunch of work hanging on that wall! billy

I've lost a lot of weight, and a lot of muscle mass, I can no longer comfortably come to anchor with my Mike Palmer 65lb recurve, and I've cranked my 55-70lb compound way down, my heavy aluminum arrows were so "SLOW" and of course they have quite an arc in flight.... So, I recently traded my Bowtech and an ugly Savage 308, and pocketfull of cash, for a new Matthew's 60 lb TRX 36, which I can draw and shoot, with light carbons arrows it is a little drill, I even had some 2014 Easton X7 Cobalt shafts and some feathers, and had a friend cut them off and fletch them, they are too damn pretty to shoot, but fly very similar to the carbons arrows. I have shot recurve and compounds for a number of years, although I really didn't get the recurve down until I had a few years of the compound under my belt. My first recurve was a 52" Kodiak Magnum that I bought at the PX for 45 bucks, while I'm fairly certain I could shoot it well now, it was a finger pincher, and not a sweet shooter by any means.. I finally bought a 71lb Bighorn by G. Fred Asbell, and that was the sweetest shooting thing I ever had my hands on, I hunted with it for a number of years along with a couple of nice iron sighted Smith and Wesson 44 Magnums. Ihad a 12 yard shot at the biggest buck I had ever seen on the hoof.. I was on the ground, he had NO idea I was there, but there was a sapling between us, I came to full draw and released... I had enough light to hunt, and he and herd of deer he was with exploded all around me, but sadly that sapling took the brunt of my arrows fury.... Anyway, I mostly shoot in the back yard, more lately since my rifle range has been overgrown in corn, but I will hunt with it this fall, looking forward to it.. So how many of you are also archers, and what do you shoot?

There's an earlier Sun Devil upper and lower on gunbroker, its supposedly was built and fired about 200 rounds.. I've asked a few more questions but no FA and no dust cover. Its currently at 200 bucks, I've never seen one, I'm not sure if its forged or billet, anybody have any ideas?

I'm not seeing any LaRue rifles for sale much less than that, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?? LaRues list prices seem to be right there with the Wilson?
-
I'm currently bidding on an AR-15 set, buy it now is 600 bucks, who knows when Wilson will have them back in stock?
-
thank you!
-
Well, I got some free time to do the deal and the little Seekin's is GONE! they are ordered, but no idea when they will be back in stock...
-
Thanks Mike, much appreciated! Do you have a current phone number?
-
Yes Sir, and I'm sure you'd never instigate anything, just saying. 5 ASC FDE 5 round magazines did surprise me yesterday arriving much sooner than I expected by the US Postal Service, ooo rah!

Yep, my old man was buried 18 years ago on 9/11, he worked for MACVSOG, had his office in the US Embassy, in fact they moved into the Embassy when TET started. He stayed down town for about two weeks after a rocket attack blew up the hotel across the street from his. He was there when they attempted to overun the US Embassy... I was and still am proud of my Dad... so 18 years ago, we had the full bull military funeral, 21 Gun Salute, Tap's, and an F-16 flyover, which the local funeral directors wife re-routed over the grade school for the 9/11 remembrance, and YES, I'm still PISSED about that, he wouldn't have cared, but he earned it, I didn't even get to see it..... Anyway, he was an IP in the C-130, while in country he flew the MC-130E, he hated the damned terrain following radar in that thing, it induced frequent "glute clinchers", but it would fly the airplane about 200 ft off the deck, hands off, but it was out of an F-4. They lost a 130 in the mountains on the way home from China. There were 14 "Heavy Chain" or "Rivet Yard's" built, 12 on active duty, and 2 scrubbed clean of serials and markings.... they lost that bird in the mountains and another on the ramp from mortar fire, so those two clean birds where then serialed to mimick the two lost aircraft...

I hear ya, my problem is that I'm Adult ADHD,,, I love it all, and can't really afford any of it. If I could remember a 1/10 of the useless krap information I used to know, I'd be doing awesome. There's an amazing looking Norton Commando in Ohio with a JPS paint, and I'd love to have a Norton, but then I think about that big Suzuki 4 cylinder, that rev's to the moon, and sounds like a late 60's Indy car, that sound that just drives you insane.... one Saturday the Chief of Police was in Tennessee on vacation, I pulled the E-47 off that 01 Gixxer thousand. When I fired it up, my wife damn near peed her pant's, I ripped it through town for a couple of passes, most beautiful thing I've ever heard, mean and "BARKY"! Then there's this strange obsession with the XT500 Yammy with that gorgeous aluminum tank.... but then I come back to those gorgeous early second gen camaro's..... so I'm just painting the damn house right now. Pressure washing and scraping and painting and painting and scraping and painting.... Anyway, some sweet chick from Wilson Combat that doesn't know jack, answered my email asking when the WC-10 uppers and lowers might be back in stock,,,, no clue, they've got a supply laid back for their own production, and they are still building WC-10's, but at 3 grand plus,,, eh, that's a lot of money

So gents, is Sun Devil Manufacturing still in business, I attempted to call their number as they are showing a 308 upper receiver on their site, but no answer and no email address, there is a lower on gun broker, but I'm wondering if that is a proprietary set? would another brand of upper fit that?

Absolutely, the stabilator is attached to the aircraft with only 2 bolts, which are the pivot points, and yes the bushings do tend to get a little sloppy. Dan's Cardinal is a 1968, with around 2400 hrs total time, so low airframe time is good, but 50 years takes its toll none the less... Dan's bird is looking great, has a fairly low time overhaul.. so I'm not afraid to take stuff apart and reassemble it correctly.... but there are things on that bird that I would not touch, lol. His airplane is doing better than I am, it will probably outlast us both, LOL! I am staying on Wilson Combat, but I have no idea when they will stock their WC-10 matched upper and lower set??

Beautiful Robo, that thing is gorgeous!

As Mr. 44 Magnum, "Elmer Keith", errr I mean "Dirty Harry" once said, "a man's got to know his limitations!" Not everybody ought to be a pilot. I owned two really nice Suzuki GSXR-1000 Sport Bikes, while I ran the piss out of the first one, I was no where near its limits. It was even better with a new set of Pilot Power IIs, in doing so, I pushed its limits way up, and my confidence went way up as they were soft and grippy, inspiring my desire to "push my limits". When I was younger, I took a non-functioning revolver of a friend home, disassembled it, lubed it, made some minor adjustments, and returned a working firearm to him. I broke a spring in my Colt New Frontier, ordered the parts from Colt and replaced the spring... I would love to build a rifle, but as the OP has illustrated there are some very real challenges, but I did tear the stabilator and rudder off Dan's Cardinal as we prepared it for a strip and paint. After Dan finished stripping, priming, and painting his airplane, we reassembled it under the supervision of an AI that I used to work for... it was a lot of work, and the stabilator ended up with some "slop" in it when you grabbed the tips and lightly applied pressure back and forth... so we did some research, and replaced the nut on the sloppy side with a new stamped steel locking nut, slop gone, and yes I have flown it quite a bit after our little project.

Roger That!

So we've probably driven the LR-308 lower build tool so far into the weeds that it can't be found?? sorry gents, back on topic...
-
simple and elegant, so, I've got to ask what this did to your fuel economy, I mean with Camaro's, Vettes, Mustangs, and Challenger's in the high 20's??
-
I knew about the ignition, so does the carb send info on mixture to the computer, or do they bypass fuel management?
-
and we had no idea that the two dudes on planet earth that hate fuel injection live right here on 308AR.COM, and in Arizona! this is really a new one on me heminut, i had no idea that folks would/could do that? and I spose you've got to re-educate your onboard computer!!! thats why I'm STILL looking for an early second Gen Camaro/Firebird, the last 70 Z-28 I drove had Edelbrock Aluminum heads and Fuel Injection, ran like a bat out of hell, the 5 speed Tremec was icing on the cake. Now I'm looking at an all stock, (still has the emissions on the exhaust manifolds) 73 Z... these little stories keep me from having any real desire to "build a rifle", lol, but they do keep me entertained...

Thank you Gentlemen, and you're right, you do excel at looking after family, in fact I feel like family already. Mollie and Arlie are adjusting very nicely, and Jacob, Mollies soon to be husband, is a young Air Force Sargent, and an awesome guy. I'm fairly certain that Mollie, who I thought was my little "home-body", is glad to be out of Central Obamastan, Arlie will have a real Daddy, and I'm very greatful for that. Mollie's twin Baxie lives about 30 miles from us with her little boy Crew, whom I love dearly as well, and we have seen them several times in the last couple of weeks, so that helps. Arlie has lived with us since his birth, I saw him when he first got up, and I saw him the last thing before he went to bed, and I watched him for two months while my daughter finished school after his babysitter thought she needed $12 an hour to watch him, very sweet girl, but saw that on the internet, lol. Anyway, it was a lot of work, but a labor of love, and Arlie is a loveable little hunk of baby man, sweet and ornery at the same time, when he would cry and be unhappy, I would take him in, and fire up a Kyle Franklin airshow video, (see Kyle's 2013 video of "Dracula", an airplane that Kyle and his Dad designed to be the ultimate airshow biplane, resembling the Waco they both flew, anyway, flying choreographed to Skillet's "Monster)". Arlie would just kind of stare at it in rapt attention... So gents, it does give me a great deal of peace of mind to know they are in your neighborhood, I love you guys, and I know that if they needed you, you would be there! So while we do depend on our gracious Lord for everything, much of what He does, He does through His Army! So thanks Gent's, I hope to get out there for a visit soon, I'd love to run into you fellows! Jacob's little brother is a Marine, so they are a very conservative all American crew, his Mom and Dad are very sweet and supportive of Mollie and Arlie, so the Lord continues to work His plan, its just a little tough missing my "little buddy"! and I realize what an honor it is to help make a man, we need more real men!

Thank you my friend, those of us who share an automotive addiction, on top of our 308AR affliction, need all the help we can get. I recently sold my old 1981 Black Firebird Esprit with a blown motor... now sadly I'm having, "I HAVE TO HAVE ANOTHER Z-28", there"s a blue with white stripes 73 Z in Michigan...(yes, please buy it) I'm painting my house, the last time I painted it was in 2010, when I painted it for my "Father in Law", love and miss that guy, ex Navy, he was aboard the "Drew", in the engine room when she put troops ashore on Okinawa. I had recently been "fired" from my job as a "Hospice Chaplin, Bereavement Coordinator, and Volunteer Coordinator" thanks to the rewrite of Medi Care under Obama's "affordable care act", in that re-write, a Hospice no longer was required to have a Chaplain with "credentials", they could hire anybody with a few counseling courses as a "Spiritual Counselor". Tip Hospice fired 4 Chaplains shortly after that, (it really was a great thing, they were trying to work me to death, and I started substitute teaching, and had my twins, "Mollie and Baxie" in class. They were dreading that, but I would send them down to the "teachers lounge" to get me coffee, which they really loved. Back to painting, my FIL paid me 500 dollars to paint his house, so I have nobody to blame for my current workload except your's truly... Anyway, I've had some to reflect as I was scraping and pressure washing, now painting, as a young guy, I was certain that the 98 Mauser action was the pinnacle of rifle nirvana. i thought I loved the model 70 Winchester as well, and I really didn't care about "black rifles", at some point I shot my brother in laws Armalite, AR15T, in fact when he got divorced, i owned that lovely little blaster for a very brief periord, I even put a red dot on it, but then he came and "redeemed it".. I went years and ordered a new Rock River Arms A-2 National Match, this was very early, (I outsmarted myself, and ordered it with a tube handguard, and yes it ended up with a cheap handle mounted scope... I loved that rifle, and it was a drill, but in time, those little bitty holes in the National Match sight were my undoing, and I sold it, in order to fund my present "Predator Pursuit", which is a great rifle... but nothing like little "Miss Wilson", who has inspired my latest observation, we really are living in the "Golden Age of the Rifle". I have a few nice old 98 action rifles, my Dad's Winchester 30-30, (I've concluded this was the assualt rifle of the last century) it does feel very nice in hand... and the Wilson is all that and a bag of of Chips! I am in love with the 308 AR!

Ah? Col Cooper, the real pistolero!
