Yep, China stuff is everywhere, the Gun Tec is several steps down from the Wilson Combat, but a very close knock off!
-
Yep!

Yep, kinda to be expected, now that the election is over, with the apparent results, it will only get worse! Wilson Combat hasn't had any lower receivers since at least March, I take that back, they had a small frame billet set available for about two days... and then they were gone. They do have uppers back in stock, (as you noted, this is NOT an FFL item), they have recently raised the prices in their catalogue, and the "Armor Tuff" is now 90 bucks extra on their matched sets. I'd just keep checking with them, they will get caught up here shortly I expect.

Yeah, I think I'll be ok, those Colt 20 rounders seem good to go, I'll give a report when I get my trigger. -

I've built the Wilson 300 HAM'R, which works with 300 Black magazines, I've got a 110 grain round and a 125 grain fmg, they both fit in all my magazines, the Magpull's are a little tight, I've got a steel and a couple of aluminum ASC mags. -

Sounds like fun, my trigger has been sitting at the Fox Lake postal center for 3 days now, but that's life in Central Obamastan... I'm gonna try to run my 300 on 5.56 mags, hopefully I've got something it likes, if not, I'll be ordering 300 Blackout mags. I've got a couple of old Colt 20 rounders that look promising. -
I'll go for that, we have a STOL kit on the Cardinal, high compression pistons and heads and "Powerflow" exhaust,,, and a re-pitched prop, it climbs very well on initial!
-
Agreed, prices are pretty sucky now...

Well its all together except for the trigger, it was a pain, and the ammo came today! I attempted to take the trigger out of my son's beater, but would have had to take off the pistol grip which has a funky looking bolt jammed into it?? LOL my drop in shipped today, a tracking number at least, finally! I had the trigger all apart, but it would not leave that lower because of the safety! dang it!

my 12.6 M-Lok for the small frame arrived today, barrel nut was a pain to get clocked properly, but installed gas block, and handguard, she's all together now except for hammer and trigger, waiting on Wilson's Single Stage 4 Lb from Optics Planet, hopefully a little ammo arrives tommorow, I may have to steal a trigger to get it going! -
Fine work Gents, as a dark helmeted, dark robed Gent would say, "IMPRESSIVE! VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!!"

Wilson has updated their catalog, and the WC-15 and WC-10 are higher now, color is 90 bucks for the matched upper and lower. On a side note, Wilson is offering both the WC-15 and WC-10 uppers in lightweight and Forward Assists versions for those who need an FA.

Yep, I'm waiting on a Wilson Combat 12.6" handguard, and that lovely barrel nut,,, and then the trigger, ammo, all hopefully before Thanksgiving! -
Yep, one step at a time, but like you, I am a little impatient, and I would be tempted, but the voice of reason says to fix one issue at a time, you probably will be drilling up soon, but if its too much, then you'll be buying a new adjustable gas block... these gents will get you there, keep us in the loop, I for one am very interested to hear the "end of the story"! Whoops! you've already got one of those, lol.

I did read that whole thread again last night for the second time, a gold mine of information and ideas! Its a great read, I finished it again last night, I ordered the 40 coil flat recoil spring for the 300 that Wilson uses in those guns... then I started to wonder what Wilson runs in their 308 AR's, mine runs like a house of fire... just wondering how they do it. The 300 is gonna be a virtual clone of my large frame Wilson. I decided to stick with Wilson, because I know it works!

I did indeed, the boneyard tours where shut down, but I loved the Pima Air Museum, bought me a "boneyard" coffee cup, lol! as I drove down the bend close to the flight line, I also so the remains of the one, poor old XC-99, I had taken pictures of it at Kelly Field, where it was backed up against the fence in 97, when my Dad had an "Adult Stem Cell" transplant at "Wilford Hall", the now closed USAF medical center. I also saw an F-18 painted in the aggressor squadron colors sitting in the line of F-18's in the boneyard! I hope we get to go out again this spring. On a side note, our two American Airlines pilots were yawing down the runway, the Airbus A 319 on take off at Tuscon, and the old boy landing at Lambert, St. Louis plopped her on the runway hard and she was yawing all over the place on roll-out, I was thinking dammit boy, don't lose this thing, that's how bad it was.. I've got to get back to flying the Cardinal, I had an acquaintance killed trying to roll his Yak-52 at Palmyra, and two weeks later four your gents were killed in a Cherokee 235 at Carlinville, Il. out of cruise at 5500'... that really messed with my head. I flew the Cardinal the day after my friend was killed, and I was way behind the airplane, I though my flying mojo was dead... nah, I just need to get a little sim time at home, and jump back in the airplane! I'll let you know when we go back out, and I'll get your son's info, my daughter needs some girlfriends! Jacob, Mollie, and Arlie are doing great. I bought some Belleville's in the PX, and some little di-cast airplanes for my youngest grandson's. A gorgeous chick gave me a mil-spec hair cut in the PX, so it was as Harry Carry used to say, "deja vue, all over again"! I'd love to move if I could live on base. So many C-130 all coated up in storage, that's what I need. Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!

That's neat, and I would have built the 300 in 16" if they had the Tactical Hunter profile in 16", also Wilson makes it a point to remind people that their 300 velocity ratings are with an 18" barrel... and they recommend a little grease under each of those little screw bevels to keep them from seizing over time. I did wimp out and buy one of those "Limb Saver" snap on recoil pad's from Wilson, I used to weigh about 215 until I had a heart attack and triple bypass about 12 years ago, now I'm down to about 160, but I've lost a LOT of padding, but more importantly "muscle mass". In any regard, it does help a lot more that you might expect...

I like that, and I'm still kicking my own Azz for NOT buying a .338 Federal complete upper, they had them priced at $825, I was planning on swapping a 6.5 Creed barrel on, but NO, I had to dither that deal all the way to hell and back, clicked on one day, and "Gone ZO!" that's a billet upper receiver, BCG, barrel, and charging handle! I do love their barrels, beautiful machine work, now thats gonna be a little "butt kicker", may kick your butt a little too?? or not also takes our favorite "intermediate" gas tube! That hand guard is going to make that rifle in the looks dept, its gonna be awesome!
-
That's for sure, I try to give my equipment lots of love, but it don't always work. I'm wondering where you are gonna put that little bitty hand guard?? another .260... anyway, I hope the Guntec Dude will take his hand guard back, I really like Wilson's 10, 2, and 6 row of 2 beveled stainless screws, and I like the longer barrel nut supporting the hand guard if you actually hang stuff on it. I'm trying to build the small frame 300 as close to the .308 as I can, I was blown away the first time I picked up the large frame Tactical Hunter, it was 1/3 lighter than anything else I had handled, and points like a 20 guage Merkle over and under.
-
I absolutely concur sir, their stuff is also gorgeous, which I know you will agree is a big plus, but pulling the trigger on that large frame .308, its so nice, and you walk up check out that group, just can't help smiling! But! , ARMOR TOUGH,,,,,, AIN'T! that crap scratches off like bubble gum... look's kool, it just ain't tough! but what's underneath is always gorgeous, and that's the real point. anyway, I'm talking and not listening, where's that little shorty gonna live boss??
-
Awesome, I've got some 300 HAM'R on the way! now I need a trigger, lol. Dammgummit, I had NO idea there were so many parts in an AR, anyway, I'm waiting on the Odin Works upper receiver vice block and that 12.6" small frame barrel nut and hand guard popping up on Wilson's sight last night Other than that huge half axed machining burr in the safety detent channel, (how's that happen Bill?), wouldn't allow the detent to touch the selector, and jammed up at the top of its travel! sharp drill bit on vice grip, with a dowel in the selector channel, I hated to do it, and I didn't get ugly with it, and removed a minimum amount of flashing, not pretty, but it travels smoothly now. Anyway, this is crap load of fun, except for the pain in the axe finding parts, and the crap load of money said parts require to purchase.. Anyway, good for you 98 for calling Wilson, and suggesting how that might help you and good for Wilson for making it happen... Like you, I am tickled pink at buying the last fluted 18" Tactical Hunter barrel in 300 HAM'R, that thing is freaking gorgeous, and looking down the bore is like looking down a cannon barrel! anyway, that gorgeous barrel should NOT be covered up with a long ugly handguard! I cant do it, I WON'T do it!

Yes Sir, and I was able to buy a 12.6" small frame Trim this morning and an enhanced bolt release,,, also some 300 HAM'R on the way... Dang 98, I hope this has a happy ending for you Brother, I'm still a little pissed that I had to "gunsmith" the channel for the safety detent on my billet receiver...
