picked this up pretty cheap , it looked like it was stuffed away in a closet for 30 years without oil , covered i light surface rust including the vintage Weaver B4 scope and mount , this was much easier then the Springfield , the rust was removed with oil and 0000 wool , cleaned the wood with saddle soap and then rubbed Watkins rejuvenating oil complete disassembly and cleaning and oil gun functions well , another very accurate old rifle , the lever has a long throw and if you short stroke it it fouls the feed so you have to be very deliberate in throwing the lever

found this old thing this summer , it was basically a tent peg with a decent bore , gave $40 for it , came with a vintage weaver V22 and mount , it predates serial numbers , chambers S/L/LR , and is a tack driver , can hit a 1 1/2 spinner at 50 yds every shot had to strip the metal down to the white to buff out the pitting and did a complete reblue , did the process 8 times the lumber had about 7 coats of everything imaginable including green porch paint , stripped and carefully sanded , by all accounts research says they came with very blonde stocks when new so thats what i went with mechanically i broke it down the the last screw ,refinished each piece and lubed ,buffed the bolt out to remove rust and pin pitt, the bolt has a double extractor and one side was broken , tracked that part down and after about 100 rds the other side broke and replaced that side sold the V22 scope and kept the mount and put a pre WW1 small caliber German Oigee 3 post on it , got $50 for the Weaver so basically paid for the rifle and $10 bucks towards materials to restore first pic is the pic after i decided to sell the V22 and use the Oigee on it , the other pics are with the V22 on it

kinda a grey question , ive been on GB since the early days ,it was great back then , then they started to progressively get worse as the years ticked away , non paying bidders , cheats and lack of customer support recently a few months ago they sold it and the new owners started getting creative with fees , if it wasnt bad enough already thats the bad the good is the level of stupidity among buyers that over pay for things , not just firearms , but with overpaying comes buyers remorse which creates the before mentioned non paying bidders which in turn creates te nightmare with customer service to recoop your fees , but you do stillget those that honor their bid so its not all bad , just dont be surprised

the design is one because of the angle of the mount ,nothing to do with stupid , but when the caps are off it is indistinguishable that there is a right of left until you try and seat the cap it will not conform to the tube properly
-
looks like allot of wasted space in bulk for the storage area it provides
-
he maybe has the the ring caps backwards , some caps have a right and left , try flipping them

Still haven't figured out what this is good for

so i bought a Stoeger Luger online and went to pick it up at the gun shop, a Ruger Wrangler caught my eye , read reviews ,seen a couple video reviews all positive , always been a fan , 10/22 . have a vintage Standard Mk1 , and a P95 ,all first rate weapons , decided to grab it ,get home grab some ammo and head back to the small caliber range and loaded the old Luger and the new Ruger , both LR tried the luger first 7 out of 8 shots hit the 8x8 gong off hand 25 yards , next the never fired Ruger wrangler hit the target once , same ammo same distance , reloaded both with same results, reloaded , dropped back to 40 yards with the luger , hit the 12x12 8 out of 8 shots , moved up to 15 yards with the Ruger hit the 12x12 3 out of 6 at 15 yards , what is going on decided to set up a rest and paper , at 15 yards off rest first shot aiming dead center of my target i hit a steel target to the right of my paper , off rest i could get it to group a 6 inch group 3 out of 6 ,a foot low and 8 inches right , thats right 1 foot low and 8 to the right , the other 3 rounds were wild childs no telling where they were going went and got all the different .22 ammo i had , 4 different brands , all shot way low and various degrees of to the right , none grouped , hand and rest covered in residue, could feel the blowback on my hand , tried the pistol on the rest , tried the heel of my hand on the rest , has a fixed front sight and a groove rear , so what do you do if a fixed front sight and shooting a foot low? you file the FSB down , i get it up on paper and its all over the place sent it back , month and a half later get a call from my gun guy said i can pick up my new pistol , it was unfixable so they gave me a new one , great , still love Ruger , they made it right , or so i thought , opened the box to the new pistol and this photo was in it from the factory , i did not get a warm and fuzzy , my gun guy said the look on my face was like i picked up dog crap with my bare hand get home head back and out of 4 kinds of ammo i couldn't even replicate that abysmal target they included with the pistol , took it back to my gun guy , said "take it home , run some rounds and tell me what you think" , nothing more he calls me back yesterday says it shoots fine which is code for im not dealing with this anymore , which means im looking for a new go to gun guy , i told him to sell it because if i bring it home i will hang it on a target and take to it with an AK did some research and found others with the exact experience as myself , my guess is they tuned some hand picked pistols to send out to their Youtube croney reviewers

LMAO , i am with you , the only thing they are good for is a Reddit profile pic i love the shotty in the Bad Pitt (intentional misspelling of Brad) move Killing them softly , you can see the shell casing protruding from the muzzle , i laughed so hard when i seen that i almost stroked out -
before buying anything Rossi look into availability of parts , they are not available for the most part , this is important because the "quality is there , but not" , if that makes any sense , . what i mean is they are decent alternative for the money ,but the old adage you get what you pay for applies i purchased two Rossi rifles the same day , the RS22 .22 LR semi auto and a RS22M the .22 mag semi auto ,both have free float barrels , i wanted a pair of rifles for beaters for the farm to replace my Marlins that i had just restored and they were too pretty to go for tractor rides anymore out of the box they were close to dialed in and both functioned great , i decided to stay with the nice iron sights the LR came with and they are nice sights at this price point ,and threw a Sig Sauer variable on the magnum , the same day i was sighting in the magnum i ran maybe 5 or 6 mags through flawlessly between sighting in and getting a feel for the rifle , very pleased , would go as far to say very very pleased with both rifles , thought i found a new fav brand i have 32 acres so i have a harry land owner range , get to the house and put both on my gun bench to be cleaned later , think i went to cut grass or something , anyway about 2 days later i had time to clean the rifles and learn how to break them down , go to clear the magnum and no charging handle , it was there when i racked it the last mag i ran but somewhere between those 2 moments it seems to have vanished , how does a charging handle disappear? retraced my steps , looked all around the shooting bench , no joy , could not find it anywhere on line it took me 2 months to track one down , Rossi wanted me to send them the whole rifle just for the charging handle , i was almost forced to do that , for a part that ended up costing around $5 Rossi , they are great shooters for the money , you do not get a feel of great quality when handling them and it appears parts just come up missing for no reason , nothing was broken at all , no stub left behind ,nothing on the bolt broken , the recoil spring keeps pressure on a little stub that protrudes through where the charging handle fits fitting into a corresponding notch in the handle itself ,so i am thinking when the bolt was in battery the tension was at its most lax i must have bumped the handle just right to knock it out , not a good attribute for a farm beater

hilarious , lol !!

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?
micmacman replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
well i had decided to play catchup on the AR front , already had a couple and was looking to see what a local shop had one day and a Stag 10 caught my eye , i was smitten , but then not so much , wouldn't cycle more than 3 at a time if that ,Stag said it needs to be broken in , run it wet , so i did , fumbled through $500 in ammo and was disgusted , they said send it in and to their credit fixed it , just wish they had done that $500 worth of ammo ago , but i love the rifle now so all is good , still going to play Barbie a little bit with it -
ohhh , i get what you meant , yea , even though i have duel citizenship i cant even bring anything in from Canada this is one that i had years ago
