  1. Reds have an automatic +3 on the "Crazy Scale". I had a red head roommate for a while. She is drop dead gorgeous!!! She moved in with me on the same month my now-wife and I started dating. They became such good friends that she was actually in our wedding.... That girl and I always teased that we could never be in a relationship together, or else there would be bloodshed and eventually she'd kill me in my sleep. She recognized that she was Nuckin Futs and she is perfectly OK with it. She has since gotten herself married, and her husband regularly cries about how crazy she is.... but she's smokin hot so he lives the psycho!
  2. There's really just the Cooley / JP brake.... and a bunch of clones. The real decision comes from, if you ever plan on getting a suppressor. If not, almost any "brake" will be sufficient. If so, you should be looking at something like the AAC Brake or similar.
  3. I fuckin miss that crazy SOB!
  4. Jgun (old member) was pushing 2600 fps with his load. I'll try to find that data somewhere.
  5. Flash hiders - $15-$50 - hide a flash Brakes - $50-$100 - reduce felt recoil Compensators - $100-$200 - reduce muzzle climb (Prices are approx, YMMV) Buy the one that's suits your needs. The price reflects it's level of engineering.
  6. You, of all people, are going to be very excited.... I'M JUST SAYIN!!!
  7. There's a very simple/generic math for most high caliber firearms. A 10.5" barrel is rated to be deadly out to +100 yards... round up, then add 1" to the barrel length for every 100 yards you intend to shoot to... 11"=100, 12=200, 13"=300 and so on. Mind you, this is just to remain "deadly"...A short barrel is accurate well beyond its lethal range. It just won't do much, beyond poke holes in paper, at that point. I knew I'd never shoot my .308 beyond 600 yards, so when I built it, I built it to maximize on its effective range. That allowed me to cut weight and streamline it accordingly.
  8. I'm a closet Sig fan myself. Yet to own their rifle though. Welcome. When do we get to start shopping for your scope?
  9. I want to see more of that rifle!!!!
  10. Honestly. If the majority of the ammo you shoot is steel cased, corrosive, 3rd world mil surplus... don't waste more than $150 on a generic CMV barrel. I built my 7.62x39 with a cheap barrel specific for this use. Burn it up and throw it away when I'm done. I have my stainless steel, carbon fiber wrapped, barrel on my .308... besides a little NATO surplus, and a handful of Bubba's handloads, it has only had a healthy diet of Hornady match and FGMM. I have a metric shit-ton of some red block communist, 7.62x51, steel cased, brown lacquered, garbage ammo (that I way over paid for, to a widow trying to make ends meet). I have a new rifle on the way, just for this ammo, because I'll never put it in my CF wrapped barrel.
  11. Kind of like how they converted the 10/22 into a "straight bolt" for certain tournaments. .. ie; the Olympic biathlon.
  12. Yes. The lack of lands and grooves helps in this. Only problem is you shouldn't shoot lead cast proj's. Not so much a problem with rifles in comparison to pistols. No. There's a reason why ALL competitive shooters use stainless. Same for snipers or anyone else that demands absolute accuracy. Don't let that detract from poly barrels though. They can be pretty damned accurate. Poly barrels are known to increase bullet velocity. meh... In theory. You're talking about a number that totals in the thousands. Quality ammo prolongs your barrel as much as barrel quality. If you're just going to shoot shitty ammo, why waste money on an expensive barrel? If you're going to buy a quality barrel, do you really want to shoot crap through it?
  13. First person to say it doesn't work, has to buy a Warsport/Salient Arms rifle.
  14. Don't chicken out... 13.7" middy + KX5!!!! You might have to bore out that gas port to about .1
  15. One is round and the other is circular... unless you get the teardrop or pear-shaped assists.
  16. When you say "Moe grip" do you actually mean the "Magpul AFG2" seen in the pictures?
  17. I have high hopes also.
  18. I have a box of unused grips for that exact reason
  19. You guys all enjoy your family time today. Eat plenty, watch football and play with the kids. You all can add yourselves to my list of which I am thankful.
  20. You got too excited.... :limp-wrist:
  21. Lol when you were in school, chemistry was still considered black magic and witchcraft.
  22. Very nice
  23. SBR is a nice place if you're looking to see a lot of product. They have decent sales going right now. $50 lowers for example. Not the greatest staff, kinda hit or miss, but decent enough to get me to come back. I personally only go to (buy from) M&J Guns in downtown Sacramento. If you go in there, say Rob from 308ar.com sent you.... shiit I may be there already. Lol
