I just checked out the BHW website. it looks like they don't do the melonite treatment anymore. All their bbls were listed as 416 stainless. They sure are proud of their product. They have damn near Noveske prices now.

You have to wait till they leave, otherwise you get cited for "hatchery fishing"... I used to hang at the Salvation Army drop off pile at night, but that's considered "baiting".

I think matte stainless barrels are effin sexy...

I think those hydraulic buffers were primarily intended for the FA crowd, to slow the cyclic rate. I've seen them mostly in the open bolt conversions, and suppressed FA. Mine worked in my semi auto rifle, but obviously YMMV... I swapped for the XH buffer.

Just an FYI... Rainier Arms Select BBLs are often re-branded BHW BBLs. If it is a polygonal/melonite combo, that's what you got. On the positive note, Rainier's QC is top notch and they stick by their products. If you buy a bolt at the same time as a barrel, RA will automatically head space the two for you, guaranteeing a match.

I have an old buddy who bought his Mosin at Big5 for $99. Then he ordered about $400 in parts to make it into a modern hunting rifle. When it was done I pointed out he could've bought a really nice Rem or Ruger for the same price.

I bought one of the .30 Cal Lantacs, but I was sort of at a disadvantage on my rifle. I had mine attached to my Ruger GSR. Since this is a bolt action rifle, I really didn't feel any benefit from the compensator and the brake was about as equivalent as the AAC. In the end I kept the AAC, and some jerk took my Lantac... Besides, he'll get better use out of it on his SBR.

I just wanted to share this with y'all. The fruits of our hard work. She has had some considerable downs over the last several months. She'll never be 100%, but with all of our help she's a lot better off than she would've been.

Make it completely custom. Don't put a gas port on the barrel at all. Instead, put the gas tube directly into the suppressor. There should be plenty of compression inside to cycle. Then you'd have an 8" or 9" barrel, and the equivalent of a mid or rifle length gas system.
