  1. FWIW... FNH has rumored a compact and subcompact in their FNX line.
  2. Honestly... go buy a quart of full synthetic 0W50 racing oil, tie a string around the back of your BCG, drop it in the bottle and let it soak for a few days. After your rifle is broken in, you can switch over to [insert your favorite gun oil here].
  3. This can, usually, quickly be remedied with lots (read that as: LOTS!!!) of lube and good magazines. Also, make sure you're shooting decent quality ammo. Old mil surp 7.62 usually doesn't have the oomph to work a new rifle. You have to get through the break in period before the cheap ammo can come into play. Lastly, check your gasblock alignment. If it's tilted, loose or improperly installed, you may have a leak or blockage somewhere. Most leaks will fill with carbon and create their own seal. Did I mention LUUUUUUUUUUBE!!!!!
  4. That looks like what happens when you drop the bolt on a loose round. Did you single load a steel casing, without loading it into the mag first? I've seen broken extractors from people just dropping the bullet in the chamber and slamming the bolt closed behind the loose round. Otherwise, sometimes parts just fail.
  5. I don't think you can fit more jealousy into one picture... great lookin rifle.
  6. You can single load a heavier bullet if you need. The OAL of the heavies are too long to sit inside the mag, but you can still fit one on the top. It'll hang over a bit, but that shouldn't affect much.
  7. Welcome to the Cali cool off period.
  8. If a "limbsaver" will fit, you can add one of those to your stock. I've found that the Magpul stock with an extended butt pad it quite comfortable.
  9. I was wondering if you were going to join us.
  10. Whoa! One of my regular CCW's is a two shot .357 magnum. I shoot it all the time, just to see reactions. I may be jinxing myself, but I've never hurt myself while shooting that pistol.
  11. In AZ, that's just a pile of old tires and diesel fuel...
  12. I never understood.... why pay more for an 80%? You can get a finished aero precision lower for less than $80.
  13. THAT'S AWESOME!! Are you going for a 07 FFL?
  14. Nice! I put the 15" on an AR15 a few months ago. I really liked it.
  15. Lol. I burned my .308 a little. I ran it for over a year without any lube.... just to prove a good build doesnt need lube. It ran 100% the whole time. I never even cleaned it the whole time. Ive switched to FireClean since then.
  16. Lube lube lube looooooooob. Chuck a chamber brush into a rotary tool, lube it up, then run it a few seconds in the breach. That'll soften things up a bit. Leave your mags fully loaded for a few nights. That should decompress them a bit. Also check the lips for any snags that might be dragging on the brass. A heavy buffer will help you too. Check out heavybuffers.com (most of us have gone this route)
  17. There's a couple stories out there of NiB "burning" and changing colors. The reason behind it is different each time; inadequate lube, wrong kind if lube, bad loads, poor quality parts/build. The list of possible reasons goes on and on... The only constant is that even with the color change, the NiB coating holds strong and continues to perform.
  18. If anyone is going, let me know. If they're having a sale, I have a shopping list.
  19. this video is all over the news here in California. I hope the dog is shot and the owner pays dearly for all the damages. if that were my child, the body count would be high that afternoon.
  20. I've been using CCW holsters for over 10 years. None of yet have retention. http://www.mernickleholsters.com Buy once and you'll never go back. I have three of his holsters and I wear his belt every day.
  21. It's to show how exact the turret measurements are. You aim at the orange dot and adjust the turrets to shoot the corners out. This is for guys who constantly change their dope. They can eliminate scope error from their dope equations.
  22. Wolfgang, sorry to hear about the stroke. I've watched family members struggle after a stroke and I recognize the hardship you endure daily. The badger CH you posted is a standard handle with a right-side extended latch. It's a common modification. The problem with using just the latch, especially on the .308, is the torque you're putting on small parts when in use. A lot of the designated ambi charging handles have remedied this by slightly modifying the design, and beefing up small parts like roll pins. The Badger handles will work fine for a long time. Badger is one of the original (if not THE original) extended charging handle mfgr's. If you use care and caution, you'll get years of service from their parts. If you have tendencies to play hard and reckless, like some of us are prone to do, then you might want one of the newer models. FWIW, the TacOps-1 is gripped on the right side similar to a bolt action rifle. Using your thumb and index finger, you grab the right side, using the ergonomic cut of the handle, and depressing a thumb lever. It's actually a very comfortable process.
  23. The specs sound good. I like to see more nitrate parts on the market. The price isn't bad.
