  1. My LGS has the lightweight model. I play with it when I stop in. Nice piece, but could use some aftermarket love.
  2. I participated in a forensics class, shooting pig carcasses with different caliber firearms. On one I shot a 12g slug, and another I shot with the .500 mag. The 1 oz slug measures 437.5 grains, .50 cal was 425 grains. The wounds created in flesh were downright explosive.
  3. I won't knock the idea of a good 1911... but I still think a Smith X frame would be better.
  4. I wonder if they can be upgraded... Better spring. Better Piston/plunger system. Tighter bore on the barrel to increase velocity and range... maybe a choke?
  5. Dammit all... just when I'm about to pull the trigger on a PM400, I see that PWS has rereleased the Mk110 pistol....
  6. Not at all. I think most of those are easy shooters. The size of the gun (especially the S&W) takes away from the bite of the big bore. My .44 mag Super Blackhawk is one of my favorite shooters, and I'm not that big (5'10" 185#). I love the 4.5" .500 mag, but can't justify the cost of ammo. Getting a .45 ACP rechambered to .460 Rowland, and then shooting either load, seems the best idea and most affordable.
  7. The .500 (with the comp) isn't all that bad... If you stay under 325 grains. I've seen them as high as 600 grain, but that'd scare the bajeezus out of me. My Super Blackhawk would do the job just fine too.
  8. The .460 Rowland, the .45 Grizzly or the .50 GI would all be better choices than a 10mm Auto. The .500 mag, the .460 mag and the 45-70 would be the best choices. Even the .454 Casull would be better.
  9. FWIW.... The MechArmor Defense "TacOps-1" group buy is still going....
  10. That's a sure sign of uneven chrome. No worries there. It'll correct itself over time as parts mate to each other.
  11. Not at all... I just didn't see the comp working on my bolt rifle as well as a brake would. I still have BC's on all my semi auto rifles.
  12. I just bought a Lantac Dragon 7.62 for my Ruger GSR... I have yet to shoot it, but its reputation says it should be stellar.
  13. Is it a new BCG? Most carriers are chrome lined, and not all chrome is created equal. The rings might have to work themselves in before they work comfortably. If you can cycle it by hand, you may have to spend some time on the couch just functioning the action a bit.
  14. What isn't "left friendly" with the available ambi models out there? Or do you simply like the minimal charging handle?
  15. Ah, I just noticed no BCG. There's another pound right there. Did you add a buffer and spring yet? It sure looks like you'll be under 10 lbs before optics. Good job on cutting weight.
  16. 4 oz justfor the break. The whole system is 10.4 ounces.
  17. The brake/comp still does its job. Gas (like electricity) follows the path of least resistance as it expands. Once the gas leaves the brake/comp it is forced to exhaust forward, including the sound blast. This is very similar to the KX3 or Krink style brakes that are out there already. I would suggest finding one where the shield does not extend past the brake/comp. Since the gas travels faster than the bullet, the gas leaving the brake may get redirected into the path of the bullet, causing it to affect your accuracy. Once the weight drops down to sub 5oz on one of these combo's, I'll jump all over it. More than 1/4 lbs of weight hanging off the end of a barrel is ridiculous for anything other than a bench rifle.
  18. It is... check out the "Ferfrans" CQB Modular Muzzle Break. The fanboys have been all over the design for some time. A muzzle brake shield isn't new. A designer made one a while back that fit over the AAC 51T or the YHM suppressor threads. They all dry up because of the weight. The combined weight of the brake + shield is usually about 10+ ounces. I'm waiting for one of the newer companies to make a Ti version. I think a 51T or Surefire mount would benefit the most. Even the A2 QD version would benefit some. I may have to pass this information to a local company that does work in Ti.
  19. 7.45 seems very light for that build. I assumed the barrel would've been near that mark by itself. It's lookin great so far.
  20. Here's my wife on her last quad. She sold it just before the baby was born. HONDA 450R... With ALL the bells and whistles. I promised her a new ride after the babies are all done. She wants the Can-Am 450r... Daddy wants the Can-Am 1000 4x4!
  21. Old men sitting in their piece of shiit Datsun pickups, out front of Walmart, waiting for the weekly delivery
  22. Just drill out the threads in the back (s a stock can't be attached), and wrap a foam sock over it. Done!
  23. I want a review on that PM400. I was very tempted to grab one recently. I'm currently leaning towards the LWRCi PSD instead. I get a rockin deal through my dept distributor.
  24. If you just want it for the look, take out the cone baffle. No more back pressure.
  25. You could always build a side charger
