  1. Seven and half incher inbound... I can't wait to get her done!
  2. In Ca, we are so congested in urban areas that a .308 has major liability all over it. Some of the F&G and other Wardens carry them for wildlife, but only precision guys carrying them inside city limits. Urban areas need to rely on the fragmentation of the 5.56 round. That being said, we have a lot of DMR teams popping up on patrol teams. The term "Sniper" is going extinct, along with most SWAT type duties. Individual patrol are "Active Shooter" trained and the practice of "Dynamic Entries" (door kicking) is quickly going out with the Dodo bird. I was trying to pass the .308 as a patrol rifle, using 110gr for standard loads and 168gr for the precision shooting. Too hard to argue against liability.
  3. I'll hijack one of the threads and turn it into a St Patrick's "corned beef and cabbage" topic...
  4. I just started yet ANOTHER topic for the sole purpose of annoying 98Z5V.... And I'm going to lock it so he can't cuss me here. Lol
  5. It's too bad Magpul never got into the 7.62x39 game for the AR platform. I would love a PMAG for my bean-flinger. I trust them a lot more than ACS (which is all I can seem to find)
  6. Technically there's three: • 6.8x43 (the original design, pre-SPC) • 6.8 SPC (SAAMI) • 6.8 SPC II (non-SAMMI, but considered better) If I'm correct, each upgrade can shoot all the previous chambers. Similar to how 5.56x45 can shoot .223, but .223 can't shoot 5.56x45. LWRCi recently released a new receiver, with a wider magwell, designed to use their proprietary 30 round 6.8 SPC II PMAG. I have no clue if this new receiver, or the new PMAG, will work with standard AR parts or smaller caliber ammo. So far, I believe this new rifle is exclusive to their overseas military contract, until their order Is completed.
  7. I'm kind of with Sisco on this. Get a new upper and modify your lower for what you need. If you can carry two types of rifles, I still say the CM901 is the best option. SBR a 5.56 upper and accurize a 7.62 upper.
  8. I don't know about you Apple drones... But it looks like Android just had an explosion of gun apps pop up GunBroker (auction site) SlickGuns (online Web deals) AmmoBot (online ammo mass search engine) Revolvr (kind of like ArmsList) I've been playing with these all morning.
  9. Great find! I read that Magpul turned several machines over, to make the new LWRC dedicated 6.8 magazine. They are both part of a big overseas order. Looks like the 6.8 might survive after all.
  10. I have scope envy....
  11. Did anyone else imagine the airplane scene from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"? I pictured a bunch of people sitting on milk crates holding onto their goats and chickens. How does a plane full of people in 2014 go missing? My phone can locate me within 3 meters, yet a multimillion plane (full of people) can vanish without a trace? They were shot down or intentionally dunked by the pilot... I blame North Korea
  12. I grabbed a 7.5" 7.62x39 melonite barrel and a krink break... I have a piston operated pistol in the works. I have a spare Adams Arms lightweight pistol length piston kit sitting on my desk. Just need to decide on an upper now. Also waiting for the CASV Keymod to hit the market.
  13. Lol. Not all at the same time. I'm eccentric about my carry piece like my wife is with jewelry.
  14. http://www.cobratacsystems.com/ http://www.cobratacsystems.com/ I just made a late night, impulsive order with these guys. As I'm shopping around I see they advertise a 24/7 help hotline... I figure "WTF, I'll drop them a line." Low and behold, their owner is on the chat line answering my dumbass in the middle of the night. I pray his ol' lady forgives him for having to deal with me. The fine gentleman hooks me up with a LEO/MIL account and explains his discount service for long term members. So far so good. I'll give you all more when I see it. Check out their Facebook page for deals/promotions and latest inventory as well.
  15. That looks vaguely familiar... lol Great looking stick bro. Good job!
  16. I carry a few different pieces. My 1911 will stay cocked and locked. My Walther PPK/S rides hammer down (DA) and safety off. My Sig's all ride in DA (no safety). I have a single action .357 derringer that I carry at half-cock in my pocket.
  17. The wife and I have talked about it several times. We're definitely trying to make some arrangements.
  18. I know it's a hog, but I always thought I'd be happier with the all stainless S&W 686 http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_827551_-1_757767_757751_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y Also a growing fan of the Chiappa .357
  19. Only gun to ever hurt me... I've shot .454 Casull, .500 Magnum, 45-70... none of them hurt more than the Ti .357 magnum. After 3 cylinders (15 rnds) the webbing in my hand was bruised. It's an accurate little SOB. My brotherinlaw bought it, and now only loads .38 wad cutters. Lol
  20. Is there a D ring installed as well?
  21. He won't learn the intricacies until he gets intimate with it. If he breaks it, no big deal, he was planning on getting another one anyways.
  22. My bet is the guy got some junk behind the extractor spring and seized it up. I had a rifle that popped a few primers. The little brass tabs got stuck inside the bolt and shredded that spring.
  23. Easy, PM me your address. I have at least 100 of those springs and rubber pieces. Nitride doesn't add mass to metal. It's a treatment, similar to stainless. If you want to, give the edges of the extractor a rub down with some light sanding or steel wool. Not enough to remove material, but just enough to take off any tight edges.
  24. P220 10Rd mags were selling for $75-$100 each. They're down to about $50 now
