  1. A whole new image of a guy who "sleeps with his gun"
  2. On second hand, I don't think there's enough room in a x39 casing to load up enough powder to effectively launch a 300-400gr .416 proj. Maybe if you modified the bolt to accept 30-06 brass... Then you could cut from a longer case. Effectively making it a 10.4x49 I honestly don't know what the fuq I'm talking about. The baby woke me up and I'm in a lack-of-sleep induced stupor. There's only 10% left on my battery, so my rambling will likely end soon.
  3. So I'm looking at the dimensions of the .308 AR and I don't think a 45-70 will work.... HOWEVER!!! Taking a page out of the 300 AAC Blackout handbook... I do think that a creative soul could cut 308 brass down to the shoulder, then resize to .41 cal. Then you could load up some super heavy loads from the big .416 family. You could effectively create a straight wall 10.4x39mm cartridge... Or a 400 SUPER Blackout....... Or even better yet..... .416 Robocop!!!! You guys read it here first!!!!
  4. If the BABC is in your price range, look up the "Tank Brake". It's similar to the Barrett .50 BMG style brake, but comes in .30 (or .338) cal. I think Barrett, Lapua and JP Enterprises all make a Tank Brake.
  5. Damn it all. Another part I am going HAVE to have. I was just bitching about my ETP getting in the way of my right side selector switches. Having extended pins are a must or my .308 AR. Since I installed the LAW folding stock adapter, I must completely separate the receivers in order to breakdown my rifle. Improving this design How can I talk you into a stainless model... For my .308!
  6. Anyone know if Brownells is doing anything? They used to do their $10, $20 and $30 off, but I haven't seen it in MONTHS.
  7. BotachTactical.com 10% off +free shipping use code "10OFF" at checkout PS. In my experience they have super SLOW shipping. I don't recommend them if you need the item in a hurry.
  8. WarSport uses a 12" barrel with a midlength gas system on their LVOA-SBR.
  9. With all the accessories available for the CTR, it is by far the lightest and most adaptable stock available. ACE makes the lightest stocks. Their fixed stocks all weigh less than a pound. I have used the ARFX and the ARFX-Entry, and they are both very comfortable on the .308 rifles.
  10. I have a great story (faaaar too long to write here) about a dope search that involves a fleshlight, a naive cop and a very embarassed 19 yo suspect. The end result was completely humiliated suspect, a cop trying to disinfect is bare hands with industrial strength cleanser, and the rest of us gasping for air as we rolled on the floor laughing.
  11. Daniel Defense sells pistol barrels that come with a pinned FSB. IMHO DD makes one of the best bang-for-your-$$$ barrels. All DD barrels are made the same quality.... Good! There is no high, mid and low, like other companies. DD also has their Gov profile barrels which are super popular. Doublestar is C quality at best. I suggest Stag, YHM or MI before Doublestar
  12. PrimaryArms.com has a decent one going. I just grabbed an AeroPrecision lower for $70, and had them throw in a Spikes LPK (sans TCG) for $35 extra. An inexpensive start to a fun build.
  13. I really wish those jackasses finished that 12g or 20g upper they were advertising.
  14. Mike. I got slammed at work and missed the post office this week. I'm almost out of cellphone range now. I'm headed to do some stream fishing with the wife and I'll be back Friday afternoon. I promise I'll get it out to you this week. I got you the: (all from Colt) A2 Stock w/ complete rear plate Stock screw Spacer 5.56 Rifle length buffer 5.56 rifle length buffer spring You'll still need to find a rifle length extension. Sorry for the delay.
  15. I just put the NEMO 18" HBAR on a .308 build. I'm hoping it gets shot this week. Just gotta get the headspace gauge in there first, to check my work. The barrel itself is a beauty! The melonite finish feels great.
  16. That looks like a great start. What's next?
  17. I say you be the first to make a 45-70 AR!!!
  18. I like the idea of the Fortis, but I don't understand why they went for a hybrid picatinny/keymod?? They put picatinny at the 3 and 9, exactly where I would want to use the keymod mount. If they expect people to only use the keymod covers, why use picatinny at the 6 o'clock? I would have been more interested if they dropped all the picatinny, except for the top rail. I don't necessarily want keymod either. I'd be just as happy with simple slots like VTAC/Magpul. Strike Industries has a new keymod stock coming out. It's rediculously affordable too!
  19. I was just on the Windham website too! I'm tempted to do an all carbon fiber upper. I was also looking at the 9mm upper receiver, lacking the F/A and the deflector. I could easily omit the ejection port door and assembly. That'd be a bit lighter than a slab side DPMS upper. If I do it, I'm definitely leaning towards a Lancer Systems CF tube vs the DPMS version. I really like the rifle plus length tube (14.6") w/o the top rail (only 11.6 oz) I really like reading about the Taccom .22lr BCG, and all the extra work they put into it... and all for a menial cost in comparison to other (5.56/7.62) parts.
  20. Will, Go to CalGuns and download the ATF and DOJ letters. Keep copies of those letters in an envelope inside your gun bag. They are helpful for quick reference in case there is a question. While not required, consider engraving something for ID purposes on your rifle. Many choose a social security or DL number or even their name. It's especially helpfull if it were to get lost somehow.
  21. I lol'd a little. Why do they have upside down chevrons over their dept patches??????
  22. Send me his info. Maybe I can set something up? I'm getting more and more serious about this build.
  23. Welcome from the Golden State
