  1. Wait... Who's the old guy hanging out with Toby? <laughs>
  2. No "Thank you Robo" for showing you the light of the Mega Ambi!?!?
  3. Either Toby got a bad camera angle or that is the hairiest seal I've ever seen.
  4. I tried a lot of different variations of parts, I adjusted the weights, I did everything. I'm using an H buffer and spring from an M4 I stripped for parts.
  5. Like a French ship off the coast of Somalia. My wife will try to shoot everything with her Glock 17. She shoots that thing like an Ace.
  6. I already told the wife we are going. If all goes to plan, she'll be plump and preggo for the trip.
  7. Do you think they made a special design to work specifically with their own bolt catch? I have their S/S bolt catch, and I wonder if that will make a difference??? I'll check that out as soon as I get my parts back.
  8. An 18" barrel could do it, but I wouldn't do it with the Noveske. A good 18" bull barrel would work better for you. Even a heavy barrel would be better. The difference in barrel lengths will produce approximately 100fps less. To make up for this you'd have to go with a lighter bullet. A lighter bullet is going to have more issues the further you plan on launching it.
  9. Like this? http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=22540/Product/AR-15-M16-MODULAR-GAS-BLOCK
  10. Dont leave me out! I'm not too proud to take $10 from Greg. <lmao>
  11. It's not really an order, but I did just pick it up. Before my father retired he was the Range Master for his dept. I visited him last weekend and went through some boxes in the garage. I found a shit ton of old armory parts. FA/SA carriers and triggers, stainless bolts, A2 uppers and a few barrels. I built two complete Colt uppers (16" hbar & 20" hbar) from the spare parts.
  12. In the same light, I recently took my new AR15 out to test fire it. I was getting a FTF after every shot. I checked the BCG, the CWS, the buffer and the CS spring. In the end I just replaced the CS spring with a standard carbine spring from an old Colt M4. Since the spring only cost me about $25, I'm thinking of cutting a few links and trying it again.
  13. It makes me want a FA gun. I have no reason own one, just want it!
  14. Hey Edge, I'll bet if you ask your girlfriend nicely she'll show you how to link a video to your post. <lmao>
  15. It's an interesting concept. I don't know about others, but I learned to shoot precision with my off hand tucked under the stock. I think my arm would be in the way of those legs. On the PRS, w/o the monopod, I grab the textured area of the stock and balance on the bottom of my fist. With a monopod attached I grip the pod itself for support.
  16. I have a few .750's sitting around. I'll try one of those before I give up.
  17. PWS for a lighter carbine brake. Cooley brake for a heavier rifle brake.
  18. I need a handguard cap, round, notched or triangle. It has to be .625 for a pencil barrel.
  19. I'm in California, so no mag releases for me. I'm working on my exemption letter still. LE can own AW's in Cali, if their Chief approves. Unfortunately my dept uses class III HK G36k's, not AR's. So it's difficult to pass the letter. As soon as, if ever, I get my exemption I'll put on a Norgon or Troy ambi mag release.
  20. Chrome and Melonite barrels are corrosion resistant and their low friction surface enables longer barrel life. Lined barrels aren't particularly known for super accuracy. That doesn't mean they're inaccurate. If you were just plinking, there are plenty of affordable lined barrels. If you were going into a battle and your life depended on performance, there are several high end lined barrels to choose from. If you wanted to make 1/2" jagged holes at 100 yards, or you needed to make sure every shot landed EXACTLY where you wanted it, then a custom stainless steel barrel is your choice.
  21. Haha, you know you can get that NIB coated now?
  22. Yes. Mega makes a billet lower (bought through Dave) with a right side bolt release. The button is right above the magazine release. If you do it, double check the model. They sell two styles. Both work the same and cost the same, just cosmetically they're different. The "GTR-3H-AMBI" is designed to match up with their billet uppers. They are a bit bulkier than standard. The "GTR-3S-AMBI" is designed to match up to standard forged uppers. I have the 3H model, and regular uppers fit on it, but they just don't look right. I would've bought the 3S if I did it again. AXTS also makes one. But $$$.
  23. So I finally got a chance to shoot my new AR. I went out to a friends ranch and spent my valentines day blasting away. Phase 1: not so good. Gun fired. Short stroked and failed to feed a second round. The recoils was so light, I wish I had brought my 22 to compare. I swear this was lighter. 14.5" mid barrel Mis Piston CS flat spring CWS with full weight Phase two: Pulled the CWS out and tried again. Same results. Phase three: Luckily I brought a spare carbine spring. Quickly swapped parts and back down range. Shoots and cycles. Reinstalled CWS and still functions. End result was a rifle that still popped like a .22lr It was so gentle that I had friends commenting on how fun it was to shoot. Unfortunately I didn't take any paper to sight in. I blasted about 100 rounds into a tree stump before I had to return to my Valentines day duties. I'm marking this one as a success. <thumbsup>
  24. These and the 220 Swift I refer to as the eaters of barrels. Everyone wanted to shoot 4k fps. When they reached it they still wanted faster. I've seen chrono's tipping 4200 fps. Personally I'd go for the heavier bullet and load down to 3200-3500 fps. Then again I shoot a 221 Fireball for that same reason.
  25. The two most common twists are 1:10 and 1:12. The 1:12 likes the lightweight bullets. You can shoot heavier, but they won't stabilize well and you'll lose a bit of accuracy. I'd make 160 gr bullets my ceiling and try to shop more in the 150 gr area. 1:10 is prime for the big heavy bullets. You can shoot lighter and they'll still be accurate, but you'll wear down your barrel life faster. Too much pressure and heat from the lightweight bullets. 160+ grains will be fine. A local sniper team was shooting their Rem 700 with 1:12 twists. They ditched the common 168gr for a better flying 155gr. If you buy custom. They can make a 1:11 twist. I don't know too much about this twist. If you went this route I would suggest staying away from the extreme heavy and extreme light bullets.
