  1. They had a JD 308 with a 14.5" barrel and a Noveske flash hider, then they wrapped the whole thing in a 15" free float tube. Very nice heft to it. I think they could have made it lighter though.
  2. FYI, the Magpul polymer rails also fit the Apex. I use their 2" rails to mount my VLTOR Mod-Pod. I think they are about $5 per rail
  3. JD was at the Sacramento gun show this weekend. They had some great looking rifles. I really like their ff tubes. Price tags were a little rough though.
  4. I'm from Sonoma County originally. Now I'm in Sacramento area.
  5. :threadjack: I wouldn't be able to justify the cost of a six pack per bullet. :hethan: Screw you, I drink Coors Light and I'm proud of it!
  6. For under 300 yards, scope height is all personal preference. I prefer mine close to the receiver, like a red dot. Just understand that you can't shoulder your rifle like a bolt rifle anymore. You'll have to modify your stance a bit. If you plan on shooting beyond 300 yards you should have a scope mount designed for that kind of shooting. edge is right on the money with his suggestions! Watch out though, edgecrusher also has expensive taste. He'll drag you into the poor house if you aren't watching. :P
  7. here's another link for that "Magpul Enhanced Recoil Pad". I put one on my Magpul ACS and it was worth every penny. Very comfortable. They are also nice because you don't have to extend your stock as far, for that comfortable feel.
  8. I wouldn't go so far as to change too much. I like your rifle as it is! <thumbsup> The Battle Arms Development Ambi Selector Switch is a VERY nice addition. I am known to be a HUGE fan of the Battlecomp BABC... I also really like the PWS FSC30. A trigger can be a big BIG improvement on performance. It really should be everyone's first upgrade. As for grips and hand guards. I like Magpul stuff. I do suggest the enhanced stock pad for your MOE stock. While the MOE is good, you may enjoy a slightly upgraded stock as well. The CTR and ACS (and their variants) are really nice inexpensive stocks, and they come in the color to match your rifle. (That new Wilson Rogers "Super-Stoc" is sexy too!) As BLKSHEEP pointed out, you may want to re-examine your scope mount. Although, if it's comfortable to you that's all that matters. An extended charging handle makes things a tad bit easier when playing at the range... We all have our opinions on which we like. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. Even if you only went so far as to put a Badger arm on your existing handle.
  9. <lmao> I may have to change my sig line.
  10. I immediately went to my profile to check. Lol I did finally find the abuse. I'm not the victim, this time.
  11. Again I am a horrible person about this. My wife always yells at me for leaving my gun on the table. We don't have any "little hands" we have to worry about... yet. When I remember, or when we have guests, I stash it above the fridge. It won't do my any good in a safe.
  12. California DOJ hasn't recognized the Raddlock specifically. While they say the "bullet button" is ok, the Raddlock is a little different. The Raddlock can switch from a bullet button to a standard mag release. There is an argument that if you have a tool handy that could be used to unlock the Raddlock, then DoJ may still consider the rifle an "Assault Weapon". All because of the easy access to the tool. Same theory as having a "pistol" upper and a your standard lower in the same case and calling it a SBR. Even if they aren't connected, it's their proximity they argue.
  13. Not 100% plug and play. But if you're willing to make sacrifices, it can be done a lot easier. The A2 front sight requires two taper pin holes drilled through the bottom of the barrel. Not all barrel have these holes pre-drilled. In fact, if you don't have an A2 sight on your barrel now. I'll bet the holes aren't there at all. Don't fret, there are still options. Armalite make a clamp on style A2 sight. I think there is even a bayonet lug option (<---Needs verification). ARMS makes a folding A2 sight that can clamp on as well. This is a little more expensive, but they are very well made, and you may never need to switch back to a railed block.
  14. I like that you matched the drag bag too. Good job. <thumbsup>
  15. An "enhancer"! :o You want your flash to be bigger? Just take off the muzzle device completely. Can't make a bigger flash than that. I'd suggest a thread protector in the mean time. They run about $5 in various places. Uh... What? I think you made a very unnecessary (and irreversible) modification to your barrel nut. Those "little notches" are designed to line up with the gas tube hole. If you aren't lined up, you are either too tight or not tight enough... Based on your description you are probably the former rather than the latter. Forgive me for not having time to read through pages and pages of posts. Can you post a current picture of your rifle? Maybe detail out the parts that aren't easily identifiable. Hard to help you figure out the problem if I don't know what I'm looking at.
  16. I have four of these now. Three short throws (one in stainless steel) and one regular. I even bought two crank levers for my main shooters. I know a few guys who have bought more than me. My last batch were a little tighter than expected. I had to polish the detent pin and round off the tip a bit. At first it was a real PITA to switch. Now it flips real easy. The BADASS unit is an addiction after the first touch. Make sure you post your review on Brownells.com

    Barrett?

If it were electronic I'd swear my wife was involved somehow. It's amazing the gremlins that follow that woman to every thing she touches!
  18. This might be a little red-neck of me, but I have used a small strap wrench in the past. Im not suggesting it as a good idea.... But it worked for me! I still use a strap wrench when tightening full length buffer tubes that don't lock in with a castle nut.
  19. I love it. I'd put in on my riding gear or snowboard in a second!
  20. Really?! Ten million possible responses, and you picked that one?
  21. No offense taken. I wasn't either party. You have to expect problems when you tell a bunch of 21-23 year old boys, "it's just like paintball."
  22. I soak my BCG's in Mobile1 FULL SYNTHETIC for a day or so. Then I wipe it down real good with a rag. When it's time to go bang I either squirt it good with Break-Free CLP or I spay some old Outers Tri-lube in there. With new rifles, the upper and BCG like to be really wet. The contacting metals have to build a physical relationship before they don't need lube anymore. Kinda like when edgecrusher met 98Z5V for the first.
  23. When simunition first came out we used it in my Police Academy. We weren't instructed very well on the minimum engagement distances. During a sims battle one of our trainees was hiding behind a low wall. A second trainee snuck up behind the wall and shot the first trainee in the top of the head. The shot was only inches away, and completely unprotected. The result was NOT lethal, but it did result in a trip to the emergency room.
