  1. I always had a love for JP rifles. So sleek and sexy. I'm seriously debated on a JP or an OBR for my next 308.
  2. A friend of mine just bought two of those AP uppers from that site. He likes them.
  3. A bunch of boxes arrived from Midway and Brownells for my next LW build... I forgot to order a .625 handguard cup!!! <nutkick> FML!!
  4. That looks great!! Well done. It's so much cleaner looking without the BUIS. What's next? Bipod? Sling? Lights and lasers? 1 o'clock red dot? Paint?
  5. That's an awesome career. Welcome to our hang out. Our greeter, 98Z5V, will be in contact with you soon. What kind of helicopters do you fly?
  6. Oh did I forget tell you guys???? SI-D called and said they finished my NiB bolt. I had them ship it and a NiB barrel extention directly to my barrel maker. Barrel guy confirmed the bolt made it to their shop.
  7. :o oh baby! A 16"-18" LR260 would be hot.
  8. <thumbsup>
  9. Not me! Although in an attempt, I threw out about 10-15 Brownells shipping boxes.
  10. There was a time that you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a Spikes AR. For a mass produced forged lower, I think they are pretty decent.
  11. Ive never used this site before. Are they good? I'm optics shopping now.
  12. Damn California. I wanted a pure Armalite or KAC when I started this venture. One I couldn't own because of laws, the other because of budget. Oh well.
  13. All this talk is making me want that 3D printer more and more.
  14. In April 2011 I ordered a carbon fiber wrapped barrel. They told me that business was slow and I wouldn't have to wait long. I paid them my $500 retainer and waited for the finished product. In January 2012 they finally advised that my barrel would likely be ready... In March!!! Screw your one week, lol. I've been standing in line for 11 months.
  15. First I want to point out how excited I am that you joined our site. Welcome! Your expertise in this subject is something that was missing from our circle of experience. What makes you turn so harshly away from flat springs? Several of us have and them. What is your negative experience with them? Currently in my 308, I use a Tubb CS flat spring and Enidine buffer (yeah, I drank the koolaid). In your experience, do you have a negative opinion about this combo? Thanks again.
  16. The US military is confirming kills out to 1200 yards with a 20" barrel... 16"-18" is plenty for anything I ever plan on doing.
  17. That's cool. A friend of mine found almost 2 oz after the last rain we had. He was extatic. One of my favorite hunting spots is on the Trinity River in northern California. Prospectors are everywhere up there. Some of them hobbyists, some of them dangerous-creepy-extremists.
  18. Come to think of it... An 18"-20" barrel in 300 Blackout, flinging 110gr lead, would be more than fine out to 600 yards. It'd also be very cheap!
  19. There was an article of a kid who used his computer and a $400 "3d" printer to make an AR15 lower out cutting board material. He said it broke down fairly quickly but worked for a while. I have looked into this as an investment and the technology isn't quite there yet. As stronger polymers come available and 3d printers more affordable, the advancements in the firearm industry are going to sky rocket. You could bust out 3 or 4 different designs a day to try out new theories. The overhead cost would be minuscule. I'd be tempted to build all kinds of crazy things.
  20. The 300 whisper/blackout is a short to mid range round, designed for CQB and supressors. If you want to reach out to 600 and stay on an Ar15 platform, I say go for the 6.8SPC or 7.62x40 WT. If you'd like a new caliber for your 308AR, I suggest an 18" .260 Rem. That cartridge is a dream to shoot.
  21. This was kind of touched on in another thread. I was going to respond there, but it wasnt the right place to jump on my soap box. My intention isn't to argue, but dispell any misinformation. These two devices are apples and oranges and the intention of your build should dictate which you choose. Someone made a comment about using a Battlecomp while prone. The Battlecomp series of compensators (v1.0, v1.5, v2.0 & BABC) do not have exhaust ports at the 5 o'clock to 7 o'clock range. Thus if you were prone, and your rifle was at a perpendicular angle to the ground, you should have no reaction from the dirt. Additionally there are several Costa videos that demonstrate shooting while laying on his side. Even then the reaction with the ground is minimal. Comparing a Battlecomp to a PWS is like comparing a sports car to a luxury car. One is a comp and one is a brake. Use comps for battle and competition, when follow-up shots matter most. Use brakes for sitting by yourself on a bench saving your shoulder from unwanted punishment. There are hybrids out there that have crossover functions. Although they never really outperform a device designed for a certain function.
  22. A little jealous!? I'm burning with envy right now. I don't have the time and money to learn johnnyv's methods, but lord do I wish I did. This is definitely pushing me to the idea of a 3D printer and pumping out unlimited polymer receivers. Laugh if you want, but it's already happening in places.
  23. I double agree.
  24. Screw peg board. You need pictures of naked chics!! It's a man cave!
