  1. Can I just have the receiver?? I have no use for 75% of the parts on that gun.
  2. http://www.duracoaters.com/ rob@duracoaters.com Rob Hilberg P.O. Box 3522 Santa Rosa, CA 95402 tel. 707-235-5083 I will have a full blown, detailed review about him when my .308 is finished. For right now, know that his work is awesome and very professionally applied. Not only is he exceptional in his work, but he is also VERY affordable. Turnaround time was about 1 week!!!
  3. I'm taking this ship over like a Somali Pirate :threadjack: The JAE stock (especially the Gen 2 & 3) was going to be for long range. If I wanted to go lighter I was tempted to get one of the Troy ind modular stocks. Maybe switch from collapsible to a PRS??
  4. You should have gone with a heavier barrel. The girth of that barrel reminds me of a special "show" I saw down in Mexico.
  5. I'M GOING TO JACK MY OWN THREAD. Those JAE stocks are really nice! That was the original direction I wanted to go with a .308 I have a M1A Scout I might still do that with. It has a NM heavy walnut stock on it right now. She looks mighty purrty the way she sits right now.
  6. The way I'm understanding Jense is that they bought ABS from Mike. It looks like both Mike and his wife may work for them???
  7. The company, Jense Precision (aka: XPA), was on top of their game when it came to finding my items. The employee apparently just walked out on them two weeks ago. When I talked to the company they explained that he had pulled my order, then never put it back in for production when he left. I was left hanging in limbo. They explained that they kept records of my order and down payment. The company has been very accommodating to me.
  8. Slash beat me to the punch. It sounds like you have an Ar10 barrel nut and you're trying to fit it over a dpms receiver. If you're absolutely sure you have the correct nut, maybe you've been polishing the wrong part. Might be time to bust out the rotary tool and clean up those inner threads.
  9. Well... I had my eyes set on a IOR Valdada "Spartan" 2-12x36. I almost bought it too. Then I saw it had a mil dot center :puke: Now I am seriously looking at a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32 with the Velocity 600 reticle. I haven't decided if zero stop is worth the extra $150 yet. Also, stay tuned for a 300 blackout update <thumbsup>
  10. Oh the woes of custom parts :'( Many of you are aware of my order for a carbon fiber wrapped barrel. Well, 11 months later it's still not here. I called the barrel company up. I was horrified to find out the guy building my barrel quit without telling anyone about my build. Luckily the company was more than accommodating and we quickly figured everything out. Hope to have better news soon.
  11. About once a year this topic comes up, and it becomes very hard for me not to bad mouth JDM. Without going into a rant, JDM has advised in the past that they test and build their rifles using C-Product magazines. Again, I can't comment on their current production line. I will say that I sold my JDM because it wouldn't hold onto a PMAG. What I don't understand is how a CNC company can make parts that vary so much in dimension. Some work fine, mothers barely pull through. Aesthetically I think their great guns. Functionally I have issues with their builds.
  12. Damn it! I just bought a new Battle Comp.
  13. Luis has a store, sorta, in south Sacramento. It's more of a small room in the back of lawn mower repair shop. He is the biggest dealer of Magpul parts, and his prices are more than fair. As long as you are only looking for mid-range quality or mil spec parts, Luis is your man. He makes the most of his business at the gun shows. I introduced a bunch of local LE to his shop. Since he is practically in the heart of the ghetto, a lot of cops stop by when they are on duty. He is just a few miles south of my beat, so I don't get to swing in as often.
  14. Although great suggestions, the OP wanted a drop-in trigger. The RRA and JP are not drop in modules.
  15. I know how you feel there. I splurged on a SI Defense stainless steel, NiB coated, carrier with the shot-peened, NiB coated, bolt. Then I dropped another grand on a carbon fiber wrapped barrel. I have about $1500 in just those parts alone. I saved all my receipts, but I'm afraid to add them up in fear of what the final answer is.
  16. ATC's are nice, but they aren't in stock right now. You really can't go wrong with the Geissele, Timney or CMC triggers either.
  17. Due to the varying sizes of gas holes, the hole in the gas block is designed much larger. I often describe it to people as putting a bucket over the drain in the sink. That's why your gb doesn't have to be 100% straight to function. Piston systems are a little different. The only time I'm aware of a gb being for a specific rifle is for the SASS barrels.
  18. I want either a Springfield Champion Operator or a Kimber TLE/RL Pro (stainless). If I go .40 then I want the STI 4.0 Tactical. How do you deny 17 round mags!?!?
  19. Especially the 14.5" version.
  20. I put a bid on a cheap BABC this afternoon. If any of you jerks swoops my bid from "that auction site" I'll kick your dog >:D Imschur is trying to trick me into a 14.5" Noveske barrel before the 14.7" Wilson Combat gets back in stock.
  21. Wife bought me the Costco safe a few years ago. My cousin bought same one a year later. They don't say "Big Horn" on them. They seem to work well for us.
  22. I have the Apex 12" rail. I installed Magpul MOE polymer 2" rail at the 3 and 9 o'clock. Then I put a Magpul MOE polymer 4" rail at the 6 o'clock. I have a VLTOR ModPod installed on the side rails and a Magpul VFG1 on the bottom rail. I did install the Apex full length aluminum top rail. It's strictly a cosmetic thing. I'm not too fond of it.
  23. The hardest parts about this is that the money is available now. I just hate the extra $200 cost.
  24. Now that the formalities are done, let's see the rifle.
