  1. astounding, exceptional, extraordinary, fantastic, marvelous, miraculous, outstanding, preternatural, prodigious, rare, remarkable, sensational, singular, substantial, uncommon, unique, unparalleled, unusual, unwonted, wondrous These are just a few of the many words that can be found in the English dictionary to describe my recent interaction with Roger Wang from B.A.D. Inc. (Had I encountered Roger when I was still in school, my vocabulary SAT score would have been much higher :D ) Over the last few days I have been in a back and forth conversation via email with Roger Wang. I'm an insomniac grave shift cop who owns an iphone. That puts me just a finger tap away from email, no matter where I am, no matter what the hour. Roger answered every question I had with Star Trek warp speeds. I fired emails directly at him. I threw a couple curve ball emails through the BAD Inc website. I even contacted through this website. No matter how or when I sent my questions or queries, Roger had a defensive playbook built to handle all I threw at him. From nearly 0600 (as I was logging off duty) to almost 1800 (when I was logging back on) Roger was available to answer all my mundane questions. The service provided in the last 48 hours has FAR surpassed any I had expected. The service BAD Inc employs is only paralleled by the quality of the product they provide for us. I already own one BADASS unit, and based on my experience with the unit and my experience with the customer service, I had to own another for a second rifle. So impressed was I, that I purchased a new short throw BADASS first thing when I woke up yesterday. Of course Mr Wang responded to my order with his usual promptness and ensured me that my order was being delivered in the same haste it was received. I hope to have it installed by the beginning of next week. PICTURES COMING SOON!!! My last transaction/interaction has turned me into a long time supporter and customer of BAD Inc. I'm proud to be part of an on-line community that is supported by a company such as BAD Inc. Thank you Roger Wang, and the rest of the gang at BAD Inc., for working so hard to make my job a little bit easier. PS. I also want to thank Imschur (Drew) for providing a forum in which the little guys like us can interact and communicate with those who would normally be out of our reach. <thumbsup> PPS. No more distractions till we get a verdict on a stainless steel short throw BADASS unit!!! <munch>
  2. I'm holding you to that! <thumbsup>
  3. Hey, I want an Avatar too! Can I get away with this, without over stepping any copyright infringement?
  4. I'd like to point out Roger is posting just after 0600. That is dedication! Great to have you around Roger! I just recently spent $50 for a $10 bolt catch, just to have it in stainless. I spent $60ish for my first B.A.D.A.S.S. unit. I planned on paying $70ish more for my next... But I'd pay $100 right now to get a stainless steel Short Throw B.A.D.A.S.S. with two short levers. Hell! We have so many gun-gluttons on this site, I bet between myself, Imschur, Jgun, 98Z5V, survivalshop and one or two more we could rack up a $1k order pretty quick. I wouldn't think there would be a HUGE market for s/s units, but there are plenty of us fanatics who simply want the best. The only thing better than a B.A.D.A.S.S. unit would be a B.A.D.A.S.S. unit made of stainless steel.
  5. I have the original BADASS unit, and I love it. I'm in the market for another unit, but I want the newer short throw lever. Anyone know when the 45 deg levers are going to come with the cerakote options? I need one in gun metal grey if I can get it. It'd be nice if they just gave an option for stainless steel levers so I didn't have to wait for the cerakote. (Sorry if this offends) I am a gross violator of manufacturer warantees, and I full intend to "modify" a short throw B.A.D.A.S.S. to work in my SI-D 308. I know the markings won't match up anymore, but maybe down the road I can arrange for a carbon fiber plate with correct markings to be placed over the old markings.
  6. For the record. The lower is indeed green... VERY DARK green. I apologize for the Iphone pictures. I feel the phone doesn't do the rifle justice.
  7. I finally got my lazy a$$ over to the FFL and picked up my SI Defense 308 set (and my Mega AR15 Billet Ambi lower, but that's for another post). OH MY GOD! I'm in love all over again. Josh and Adyn Sonju, of SI Defense, walked me through a custom job, that I am very VERY satisfied with... Here she is, an SI Defense "Fail Zero" upper and an SI Defense "Dark OD Green" lower... The "Fail Zero" coating on the upper is silky smooth. Looking at it first hand I wish I had the whole receiver plated in "Fail Zero". It is so smooth and soft feeling, similar to other "Teflon" type plated aluminum (my wife's cookware comes to mind). I sent my handguard out to the paint shop for some OD Grn Duracoat... I already ordered my carbon fiber barrel from Jense Precision/XPA... And i pre-ordered my "Fail Zero" BCG from Si Defense. I should have everything I need to finish my build. I decided to put my B.A.D.A.S.S. on my AR15 since it was black. I'll nee to order a new one for my .308. I just need to decide if I want a OD green selector to match my lower, or a gun metal grey selector to match my upper and contrast my lower... Wow, if i were talking about anything other than a rifle right now, I'd expect my sexual orientation to be in full debate right now. I'll order up the new selector this week. I have one itty-bitty snag right now... I lost (or used, which is more likely the case) my last buffer retention plunger and one take-down detent pin. Ah, my kingdom for a detent pin! Will this project ever reach completion???
  8. I just got an email from www.botachtactical.com saying they now do free shipping for all purchases. (excluding huge items)
  9. I'm looking at my contacts and resources. I found that I can get a complete set of Magpul MBUS (any color) Gen 2 and combine them with a complete set of Ameriglo 3-dot tritium sights... For under $200, shipped!!!! Troy can't beat that price.
  10. I just went into my box-o-tricks and pulled out a spare rear aperture. I see no reason why a mil-spec sight can't be used to replace the Magpul aperture. Now I'm thinking of doing a full tritium set. It's a lot cheaper than Troy. I checked other websites and found a bunch of nay-sayers... Although none have actually tried to make it work. We could be ground breakers on this!
  11. Anyone seen these yet? http://vtsupply.com/magpul-mbus-front-flip-up-sight-black-mag245-ar-15-ar15.html I'm thinking of going this route instead of the Troy Battle Sights.
  12. Just got an email from www.botachtactical.com Troy Battlemag 30 Round Magazines Only $12.00ea FREE SHIPPING (Sold In 3-Pack $36.00) Feed lips and anti-tilt follower are reinforced for strength. 13. <lmao> You're going to put him in the poor house... Hopefully he puts his rifles up for sale here first.

    Its hot

Tactical or real people camo? I'm not going to be a big help, but I'll give my opinion of what I use. I own a bunch of Remington mossy oak stuff. It matched up well here in Northern Calif. Lightweight, and breathes well. It also holds together nicely. Not much wear and tear after about 5 years. Only gripe is that it fades pretty quick. I mostly just wear the camo button up shirt and some blue jeans, but I have the whole set just in case. Best part of it all... Comes no where near breaking the bank. Saves me money for my other toys <thumbsup>
  15. Jense Precision / Xtreme Precision Armament guarantee their 308 AR's to shoot sub 1/2 MOA with their carbon wrapped barrels. I just ordered one last week. I'll let you all know how it does when it comes in.
  16. I wanted to give a heads up about a company I'm currently doing an order with. The company is called "DuraCoaters" and can be found online at www.DuraCoaters.com (This company is a certified DuraCoat finisher by Lauer) DuraCoaters is based out of Santa Rosa, California. I emailed the company on a Friday night and had a response from Rob, the owner, on Saturday morning. Rob was able to give me a personal quote and I have to say the price was VERY reasonable. Rob was also able to give me an estimated time frame on completing the job. His turn around time was less than half the time quoted by similar companies. The email was personal and very detailed. Just reading Rob's response assured me that this was going to be a wise choice. All I wanted done originally was to paint a tubular handguard to match my Magpul OD furniture. Other companies wanted around $150 and estimated 6-8 weeks for completion. Rob's business actually has me thinking of going a bit crazier on the paint now. Knowing his prices and the way he does business makes me want to get a lot more of my stuff DuraCoated. Here's a little snippet of his email, just to show what kind of stellar guy Rob is: "... My approach is tactical/practical and not safe queen paint jobs. So, in full disclosure, those are the two things to consider. In previous jobs the “Tactical Olive Drab Green” is the closest match to the Magpul O.D. but it’s not exactly spot on. Lastly, if it ain’t right, I’ll do it over. Then you will have the added benefit of multiple coats of duracoat. I normally do three coats of color and at least two or three clear coat on top of that, which is very durable itself..." While I can't yet give an accurate review on the quality of his work, I do plan to keep everyone updated on the progress of the work. Thus far I have to give Rob and DuraCoaters an A+ in price and communication. If he keeps the time frame he estimated, I would rate that an A+ as well. I only pray that his quality of work is equal to the way he runs his business.
  17. I'm lmao over here. I just got my SI-D rec set, but the BCG is still a bit out. I did pre-order and make payment arrangements for it already. I should be getting in on the first run. I went with the Apex handguard (10.4 oz) and the Ace ARFX stock (10.9 oz). Mike at Jense Precision said they had a few Rock 5R barrels already on hand, and no big projects in the works. He was talking about 8 week or less time frames. I told him I had to wait on the BCG at least that long. He said he is already familiar with Fail Zero plated parts. He seemed as excited about the build as I am.
  18. Anyone know a good source to send a part in for DuraCoat? I just want my handguard painted, but everyone I talk to wants $150?!?!? Is it really that expensive? I'm trying one more local source tomorrow.
  19. I pulled the trigger last night and finally made the order. Jgun, I ended up not calling Michelle. Jense Precision (also called "Xtreme Precision Armament") made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I talked to Mike, their tech, and we went over some design options and his professional opinion. He had a few Rock 5R barrels on hand that were already for a home. I ended up settling on a rifle length 17" barrel, bored to .3078 (his idea), with a 1:11.27 twist... Yes, that says .27, it isn't a typo. These guys are STRICT with their measurments. The final contour will be .875 at the gas block. Not quite a "bull barrel", but heavier than normal. Mike offered (for a cost of course) to assemble the barrel to the upper/BCG. He says they can guarantee a .4 to .2 MOA!!! He also mentioned that if I ever shoot out the barrel and I no longer am getting the accuracy I want, I can send the barrel in to be bored out to a .338 Federal for about $150. That is like getting a whole new rifle. This is not an endevour for the light of wallet. If you don't have an extra grand burning a hole in your pocket, I wouldn't even suggest this crazy mission. Very few of us are foolish to cross this boundry. I'm one step closer to a sub-MOA rifle that weighs less than 8 lbs.
  20. I pre-ordered mine when I bought my receiver set. I got the receiver set last week (pics coming). They wrote and said the BCG is in HIGH demand and is at the top of their priority list. I'm excited about it! Now quit distracting me, I'm still hunting down a carbon fiber barrel
  21. I really like that idea. I thought about doing the same thing, but using the side rail instead. A scope and red dot can be much easier on the pocketbook than a 1-6x Elcan.
  22. The problem you're going to run into with a 308 format rifle is weight vs portability. Long range (+600 yards) paper killers usually end up weighing +15 lbs. if you're a tree stand or blind hunter, weight won't be much of an issue. If you plan on humpin your rifle through the woods, 15-20#'s of rifle will get old real quick! There are makers who combine lightweight with long range accuracy. JP Rifles and Christensen Arms are sub MOA and under 10 lbs, but they have $3200+ price tags.
  23. I haven't called them yet. I work grave shift, so by the time I wake most places are near closing. I have the rest of the week off now. If I can sneak away from the wife long enough, I'll make the call in the next day or so. My "honey-do" list is kinda long this weekend.
  24. As for collapsing stocks I prefer the Magpul ACS stock or the ACE SOCOM. Although I hear the SOCOM doesn't hold up too well on the 308's. Both options will run about $120. I can't justify the cost of the UBR. If fixed stocks are your fancy, I like the ACE ARFX for less than $100. The Magpul PRS is nice, but it costs over $200.
  25. Courtney Crane from "Christensen Arms" replied, saying that they will take a carbon wrapped barrel order over the phone. Todd Bettin from "Bettin Custom Guns" replied that they do NOT make barrels for the AR type rifles, and they instead referred me to KK Jense at "Jense Precision". For anyone interested, I have phone contacts for both Jense and Christensen. Now I have to decide which barrel I like more. Christensen does the mesh fiber look. Jense does the natural ABS look. Both websites say they can make me a 1:11.25 twist, rifle length, 16" threaded barrel that is .875 at the gas block.
