I actually got my CMC to fit. I had fit the module housing to the inside of the receiver. The hammer was still rubbing the inner wall though. I used a fine grit rotary bit and took off a patch approx 1/4"x1/4". After about 3 or 4 'fit-test-repeat' I had enough clearance. I re-blacked the inside and it works great! The CMC trigger module wasn't all that hard to disassemble. I'm thinking about maybe tuning it a little more now that I know how to take it apart.

I work with a guy (ret full bird) who was stationed there too. I showed him pictures of the place and he cringed. It's a great MOUT training facility, and only a 3 hour drive out of my way. It's sad that it got to where it is, but better than losing it all together to development. Like the rest if this stupid state.

I absolutely love hunting and fishing. I've shot just about every damned thing that walks the land. I have a beater Jeep wrangler that keeps me off road, and the wife races ATV's so I have a few of those too. Wife also loves to fish and shoot, so we do a lot of outdoor andventures. Being that I'm 33 years old, I do have one guilty hobby I have to admit to. I play Airsoft war games with large groups of guys. Mostly modern era stuff, but lately I've been entertaining the idea of WW2 and NAM reenactment stuff. I easily have $1000's invested. Luckily I'm LE so I can use my gear twice as much. Of course that means that I have to spend a lot more than the average kid on the field, since I can't use Chinese knock off for real world stuff. Last year I spent $1k upgrading my AR15 for playing. Here's a few snap shots my wife took of me before a large scale (200+ players) game I was part of at Fort Ord (Monterey, CA). (my mask is hanging on my rifle in the second picture. Gotta save the teeth!)

The trick part is the end of the handguard wraps "around" the gas block. Almost like they cut a rifle handguard to fit the midlength gas system. Here is an installed midlength with mid length mono upper... Here is a close up stolen from RJF... Are those clear enough? Hard to do this from my iPhone. I'm just trying to save myself from ordering from RJF. If they get extended another season, I'd hate to think it was my order that kept them in business.

If it makes you feel any better... I'm in Cancun Mexico right now, at an all inclusive resort, with little brown women bringing me fruity umbrella drinks by the pool. I don't know how that is supposed to make you feel better... But I know I feel better already! <thumbsup>

I love the idea. I'm LE and I see no reason why it should be made "exclusive". It takes away the advantage of civies being able to bounce questions off guys in the field. We're resourceful enough that if we have a confidential comment/question/remark we can find ways to do it.

Dave, any possibility you can get any of the cut-away handguards Mega is making for "Red Jacket Firearms"? RJF is making a new AR15 called the "KMP MkII". To me it looks like a Mega AR15 with a Mono rifle length HG, a middy MTS piston system, and magpul furniture... The nice thing about the handguard is that they cut away the top of the rifle length rail so that the side and bottom rails wrapped around the railed switch block.

Smokin hot! The fluted barrel makes the gun look real uniform with the handguard. Nice match up.

I love it! I see a lot more .22lr stuff coming out. I think this may be the beginning of a new upper.... Funny how it can all start with one itty-bitty piece.

SI DEFENSE makes a stainless steel H2 carbine buffer for the .308

I had a talk with Mike Degerness at "Jense Precision" (also known as XPA). He advised that going to a 17" barrel would alleviate the issue of just about any ammo . I guess he had some issues with the lighter weight stuff???

What did you order?

I ordered a 17" rifle length barrel with a stainless steel carrier for my SI-D .308. That combined with my CS spring and AR-restor, I'm hoping to get similar results to your AR-15. **Please read that as 'hoping' and 'similar', not as 'expecting' and 'same'. I may be a dreamer, but I still live in reality. I also have a mega AR-15 I've been working on, on the side. I wanted to put a 14.5" middy piston system on it. I too am worried about "weight". I have the CS spring with a standard carbine buffer. I was tempted to add the H buffer and/or CWS, but wanted to wait till I felt the rifle as-is first. (I also haven't decided on staying 5.56 or going for a 300 Blackout) I can't wait to hear how your AR continues to shoot.

Before I let you off the hook on those pics... Which bolt did you choose to match to that carrier? I've waited for so long on my SI-D "Fail Zero" BCG, I'm seriously tempted to order that Young Mfg carrier and add a JP enhanced bolt.
