Soofley, six weeks isn't all that bad… may take you longer to get the rest of your parts to finish, and if that's you first choice I say do it! I say this because if you don't have that lower in hand it's going to be at least that long, I have two on order that I'm waiting for from Dave Branson who runs our group buy, and have no idea of their eta.

You will find that some manufacturers will be far more responsive, some are very busy but will respond, and some don't care cause they are making dough. Where Sig falls I don't know. I am in Mass, and many of my friends in law enforcement have taken their armorer's course in their NH facility, and were very disappointed with the way the class was run. My same friends and I took the Glock course and were very happy. Comparitively they said it was like it was read out of a book, with no practical experience from the instructors, questions could not be answered, ect…. How this can be related to your experience I don't know, but….

excellent choice, Armalite has been the best staple of reliable 308 parts.

what robo said, get them if you can find them, because they are not there for long. handguards will come in and out of stock far more often.

Maybe if you are located near another member, yo go for a test fire to really find out if you like what it is, before you buy…… You mentioned the "boston gun bible" , if you are a masshole like me, I would be glad to take you out, I have a 20" precision rig and a pinned 14.5" carbine cqb set up <thumbsup>

aside from Jon's Osprey crew plans…. I think you'll find out exactly what you're looking for in a 308ar of many manufacturer. One may need a part here or tweek there that we of this board have found, figured, or experienced. As for accuracy, my LaRue regularly hits 1/2 inch groups of ten at 200yds…. as have many others been more than satisfied with the accuracy. Reliability is as good as the ar15 platform when proper loads are used. Parts are as readily available as anything else out there… which is to say, if you can find them right now, because everything is getting scarce. If you have specific questions on specific rifles, throw them out there.

If you call when you order and send them your bolt they will headspace for you

I like how they assume that use of the subsonic round would negate the use of a suppressor…. media retards…. because somehow subsonic rounds are quiet?? Good to see that the boys are pushing to get all the tools they need though. As long as some bean counter doesn't squash it.

CAUTION!!! It will fit either Armalite AR10 or DPMS based .308ar uppers, glad to hear it isn't the g3 pattern rifle lower, but now it is a must to find out which of the two major types it will fit.

That's a good trigger, I'd start with the ammo, then move on to the scope and mount. Let us know how it turns out.

+1, but the ammo issue still stands. Boy, wish I had to go buy new optics and shoot bunches of ammo to solve a problem. ;) Like trying out Dunlop q2's over Pilot Powers for turn in…. in terms you may relate to ;D

To help with the over gas situation and something that will help with your rifle running suppressed is a heavy buffer. One of our site sponsors has the top notch buffers out there imho, but an h2 or h3 is about what you'll need

Yes, all ammo varies, and sometimes your rifle will like something and shoot well, or totally hate a round, as you've found out. The creme de la creme of factory loaded match ammo is generally Federal's Gold Medal Match, which to be honest about my personal experience, is what my LaRue likes best, by far. It can be hard to find at times, expensive, or if you can get it over the internet and shipped to you, not all that bad. I say buy one box, see how it works for you. If it blows your mind, then you have a base line. Know what your rifle likes and try to find a good plinking round and a good round for accuracy.
