The main issue was PSA early claim of comparability. That couple with early growing pains in their qc department. You got either lucky or a set which was made after they sorted things out. You can't fault anyone for the manufacturers issues, especially when they admitted they screwed up. I will agree that when building its best to use matched sets, or at least same brand, but that is all over this board.

My 2 cents on bringing the weapon. If you are flying direct, the you're all set. If you have a layover, forget it. When they "couldn't find" my LaRue I nearly shit. And the worst part is they just didn't care. They found it 2 hours later and then sent it on another flight, it was a huge pain in the ass. I wish I could come. I going into a unit for the next month kicking in some doors and can't get time off, but soon, I will be back there.

The receiver extension (aka buffer tube) is the same part. Just match your correct buffer and spring combo up to your stock choice. That's the short answer. It can be complicated by getting certain tubes over others, but for the most part this is the answer. Welcome to the site
