That's a shock, from them. Cool, though. Well done on the rest of the stuff, it'll run.

I have a pretty big pile of Athlon scopes, and I don't agree with the one review above, on that original Argos 6-24 scope. I'm sure he went through it, don't doubt it, don't deny it might have been a problem. The Gen 2 line did a bunch of things, but the biggest benefit was all stainless internals. That's a huge upgrade, without jacking the price up some crazy amount. The Gen 2s are different animals than the original line. I'll list it below, but my first Argos BTR 6-24 had a parallax problem. I could adjust it for 100 yards, to zero the gun, but I was out there that day to shoot 1k yards with it. Called them, SHOT was 2 weeks later, so I took it to them at SHOT Show, and they handled the warranty issue right there on the SHOT floor. Drake. This will come up later. Their warranty is legit AF. If you ever have an issue with one of their scopes, they don't hassle you about it, you send it in, and you get a new one, not the same scope "repaired." They stand behind that. One of their district reps, Drake, used to run the warranty department. He was my AZ district sales rep for a long time after that. Great guy. I noticed that their lifetime warranty indicated that you couldn't paint the scope. While at SHOT Show, I asked Drake about this, and he asked me, "What are you painting it with?" Told him Cerakote air-dry, and he told me to go for it, that will not void any warranty, and if that painted scope ever had an issue and I sent it in, to tell them that he said it was okay to paint it that way. Right on, good enough for me. I have two of the Ares BTR Gen 2 HD scopes in 2.5-15. They're phenomenal. One is on a 16" Grendel, the other on the 18" LaRue 6 ARC gun (that's the one I painted). I have two of the Helos BTR Gen 2 scopes, 2-12 magnification on a 12.5" 6 ARC, and the 4-20 magnification on a 16" 6 ARC, and they're great, as well. I think I have three of the Argos BTR scopes in 6-24 magnification. An original (pre Gen 2) on the .260 Rem, a newer Gen 2 on the 18.5" .308 gun, and a new Gen 2 to be put on the 18" 7mm-08 gun. I trust them. I'd suggest this scope for your .308AR, above all the other ones you listed, just because of the pricepoint, and the magnification range - you'll appreciate that 6-24 magnification, more than you think right now. However, if you're hooked on having SFP for the hunting scope, that Midas you're looking at would be a good choice. I put an Argod BTR Gen 2 1-8 on the .358 Win gun, I have a Talos BTR 1-4 on a 16" .308 gun, and a couple of the Argos BTR Gen 2 4-14 FFP MIL scopes on some weird caliber small-frame ARs. One is the 18" 25-45 gun, I think the other is a lightweight 18" Grendel. So, back to that Gen Original Argos BTR 6-24 (non Gen 2). I got the new one, perfect in every way, but not long after that, they came out with the Gen 2 version. Well, on a night shoot, I shot out the illumination on that scope. Pull the trigger, the recoil would black out the scope. We called Drake at 11pm that night, and he was laughing at us - "Tell him to SEND IT IN, and I"LL GIVE HIM A GEN 2 ALREADY!!!" Well, I'll be damned - I changed the battery, and everything was perfect again, no problem. Called Drake back... He told me to put the old battery back in, and send it in anyway... I didn't do that, it's still on that .260 gun. If I ever break it for real, I'll send it in, but so far, that hasn't happened. You can't go wrong with whatever you decide, based on your needs for the scope. The people are great to deal with, if you ever find yourself in a "need" to do that. They really stand behind the product, and they do that very, very well.

This is the last angle chart that I have - it's in my chest rig. I have the file somewhere, but I printed these things years ago, laminated them, and handed them out to everyone that was here for the shoot - so we could shoot High Angle that year. 2.5 * increments. I showed everyone how to do 5* increments with their fist, on the horizon. 2.5* would be halfway between a fist... Know your scope. Know your reticle. Know how to range objects in your scope reticle. Apply math. Here's how you make angled shots - apply this factor, based on your angle.

Gun Math. A2 + B2 = C2. Solve C2 for angled shots. It's too simple, with cosines. Done.

Just gonna dovetail this BUUUULShiit right in here. Keep all the BS in the same place for now. O'Biden's new Executive Order - he redefined (yeah, "redefined" - we've see that before)... what a "gun dealer" is... YOU are a "Gun Dealer." YOU are. If you ever sell some of your guns, you're a "dealer" now... -

Couple more good updates. First one is Congress going after BATFE over the Pistol Brace Rule. The other one, ref: Frames and Receivers, but same/same when it comes to Braces. -
Still have mine, going away present when I left Ft Lewis. I love that pistol.

Damn nice lookin' gun - very well done.

101.4 square feet, exactly. Toggles closed down each side. Made it turn a 360* on itself in 10 seconds. Pretty good, for a round chute, not a square skydiver's chute that can turn in 3 seconds. Spent alot of years jumping, all static line, 88 total, over 50 with combat equipment. Hollywood jumps are a waste of time, IMHO. Jump like you'll really jump, so I rucked up on jumps that were Hollywood. Benefit, I was the man in the door, if I wasn't running the jump. Spent 6 years working the SOF Static Line Jumpmaster course, and the last 4 years of those 6 - just straight running it, as the NCOIC of the course. Started out running just one course a summer, and after year 2 running it, I bounced that to back-to-back courses, 2 a year. Blew the Group Command away - why not?! All your resources are ALREADY THERE, AND TRAINED UP!!! RUN THE NEXT ONE, NOW! So, I did. This is where it's at, right here...

That IS a sexy motherfucker, right there, Eric - don't change a thing. Still goes in the dumpster if you don't bang the Mile with it... You do you - make it happen...

You're absolutely correct - they already have the shiit rigged. -
That sexy bitch better bang a mile. Or it goes in the dumpster. I'm just sayin'.... I'll paint that motherfucker tomorrow, if he ships it down. Otherwise, he better show up early for the Fall, to get it painted in time to blow primers...

exactly - nobody else is drinking that, but Ron... 🥰

Nope, he's not wasted. That's just Joe. He's fukkin' SENILE, and can't even think, and he damn sure can't read coherently from his teleprompter. He can't even fukkin' READ anymore, without garbling his speech. That's the current president of the us. <<< I didn't capitalize that high title on purpose - he doesn't deserve it. -
I went to Jump School in 1989, and jumped T-10s. So, I guess that's 34 years ago now. Oh, You can "steer" a T-10 parachute, completely. Front risers. It's all in how you push one, pull the other, or slip one by a couple handfuls, while pushing on the other. It doesn't have toggles, or the steerable openings in the back, like the MC1-1(x) - the MC1-1B, MC1-1C, and all the other stuff after that... You can DRIVE a T-10, if you know how to drive a T-10. I always aimed them for the assembly point, so I didn't have to ruck that fucker very far. You are not "at the mercy of the wind" and "going where the wind takes you" in a T-10, by any means. You just need to drive that parachute, and know how to drive that parachute. How many jumps you got?

Yeah, they're "outgrowing their shoes" these past few years, just like all .gov "agencies" have been doing. Thinking they can do WTF ever they want. That's all been smacked the fuk down by the United States Supreme Court, thankfully, beginning with the EPA V. WVa case. It ALL rolls downhill from that one. I called that early, for 2A rights, as soon as it happened. Then Bruen. Directly 2A tied, all the way. US Supreme Court did a HUGE favor for future cases with that Bruen decision, by tying the one-step to all future cases. There's ONE step to this, for future cases - does it tie into the history of this country... Period. Nothing the anti-gunners can come up with, in any wet-dream that they have to control us all - will ever pass that. Won't happen. Will never pass that decision. On that note, watch this one - Biden acting like the fool that he is... It's pretty epic. -

Nice update, from 3 days ago - we're not keeping track of this, like we should be keeping track of this, if I'm the only one finding the information on this. I need other people to do some of the heavy lifting on this topic, research, and post the information. Let's get some kind of group effort into searching out this info. It wears me out, when I get no support, and nothing ever gets posted unless I do it. Thanks in advance - dig in, find information, and fukkin' post it already. -
Since we're into the Sled Drivers, I just HAVE to add this one. Amazing motivational speech from Brian Shul. This is worth 70 minutes of your life, and you'll love it.

I hand prime everything with the RCBS tool, and tray. Never done anything different, and won't. I need to feel that primer seat - especially with shot-out Grendel and 6 ARC. Once the pockets start to get loose in those high-powered bastards, I glue the primers in and keep the brass going. It's all by feel. I'll never use an auto-primer on a turret press or progressive press. Just my $0.02 on it.

Born and raised. Zanesville, Ohio. Joined the Army, and left there in the mid-'80's, haven't lived there since. If you need a place to shoot long range, check this place out - right in my old hometown. https://www.briarrabbit.com/

$$$. I'm a tool whore. For work (very, VERY rarely used), I have a Snap-On in/lb torque driver. I needed it for some bullshiit Yamaha specs for installing a poly windshield, and you had to put the screws through the windshield and into the clamps at 3 in/lb - or you'll crack the windshield. Customer bought it, now you -the dealership - get to buy it again for the customer, if you crack that fucker on install. I have this thing, but just because it's already in my toolbox. It doesn't even stay at work anymore, stays at home, with my gun tools. I'll take it to work, if I need it there, but that's not often. I use it more at home, mounting optics. If I didn't need that thing for work - back when I needed it for work - I wouldn't have bought it. Too much loot. I'd buy the Wheeler Fat Wrench now. That's where to go, without dropping ridiculous coin. https://www.wheelertools.com/gunsmithing-tools/wrenches-and-screwdrivers/f.a.t.-wrench-with-10-bit-set/553556.html

I used to be proud to be a Washington State Resident, for the 12 years I lived there, and 3 more after I left the state. When I retired, I had to change to Arizona Residency - and I liked that too, then. Now, I'm wondering how fuckin' Blue or Purple my amazing AZ State is becoming, and what's in it's future.
