  1. Yep! <thumbsup>
  2. No worries, Magwa, and easy fix here. Really easy. Run that YHM lo-pro gasblock I listed above, run the midlength Apex .308 freefloat, and mount a flip-up front sight on the end of the freefloat. Accomplishes the same thing, except for the look. Give you a longer sight radius, too. <thumbsup>
  3. Shoot! I can't wait to see how it turns out! I'm incredibly curious over the weights of the stock stuff.
  4. This rifle is so damn nice, brother. <thumbsup>
  5. I'm gonna buy you a Ranger Handbook, just so Big Brother looks into you a little more... <lmao> <laughs>
  6. This JP A2, right here? It would work like a charm, and probably still be lighter than the gas block you currently have. <thumbsup>
  7. EDIT - Disregrd below comment - I thought you meant you HAD to use the A2... No, brother - don't need the A2 front sight at all. Swap your current railed gas block with a low profile gb, and install the Apex right over it. Something like this one from YHM:
  8. HAHA!!! <lmao>
  9. Damn. And they're doing the 5.56, too. Now I'm up in the air on the 300BLK build... :o [img width=810 height=540]http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/wp-content/blogs.dir/5/files/mega-arms-308-prototype/STCK4522-A-1000-MT.jpg [img width=810 height=540]http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/wp-content/blogs.dir/5/files/mega-arms-308-prototype/STCK4527-1000-MT.jpg [img width=810 height=540]http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/wp-content/blogs.dir/5/files/mega-arms-308-prototype/STCK4528-1000-MT.jpg
  10. Not for the .308 ARs. Your gas system will be the same - carbine length. A midlength rail would extend a little further, and cover the gas block. <thumbsup>
  11. In my past life, I've been an EMT-B and a National Ski Patrol (NSP) Alpine Patroller. You can't imagine how badly people wreck themselves in a ski slope. Broken (upper) back was the worst I've ever encountered, and transported off a hill. Fucking nightmare, not killing the guy in the transport process, to the bottom of the hill, and turning him over to the ambulance-smashers. :o Your emergency kit depends on your skills and training, and your expectations, and your capabilities, and your knowledge, and your will power. Nothing is certain.
  12. I agree with you, and on a 4 oz difference, I'd go Apex over ligher-carbon. depends on Magwa at this point. I really want to figure out a 5.56 gun that I need or don't have, to use the Apex freefloat... <thumbsup>
  13. NOW he comes out with the secrets... <laughs>
  14. You can straight whoop some Victory ass with that thing, as well as crush any 600 or 750 sportbike off the line, all the way to 125mph... <lmao> It's awesome, looking at their faces, at the next red light... <laughs> <thumbsup>
  15. Very lightweight, at 0.3 pounds (4.8 ounces). That would be the lightweight winner, for sure. Can't beat the price, either. <thumbsup>

^^^ He speaks the truth. <thumbsup>
  17. This. I just picked up one of their holsters for a 4" 1911. The "stabilizer" that they incorporate prevents the pistol from kicking out like that. Pure Genius.
  18. That's a great deal, man - I'm almost ready to jump on it. <thumbsup>
  19. No way - M109R for you, brother. I'll make the necessary mods. <thumbsup>
  20. Even lighter options would be an Apex carbine-length freefloat tube no carbine-length for the .308s, but the midlength is sweet, and lightweight. The midlength DPMS-spec handguard is 9.18" long, and would cover a new low profile gas block. It should weigh very similar to the midlength Armalite handguard, which comes in at 8.5 ounces. That's damn light. The grip is awesome in the hand, and I've never used one before I shot Rob's rifle last week. I'm considering building something else, just to use one of these. Info: http://www.apexhandguard.com/ P.S. I will be contacting our very own Dave Branson (BB Shooting) when it comes time to check prices and order. He treats us very well. <thumbsup> P.P.S. This is rifle-length on a .308 AR, but it gives you the idea, and an excellent pic of it.
  21. I see that the lapping tool is on the way already, too... <lmao> <laughs>
  22. .308 for sure - based on the upper receiver, and how Mega makes theirs (Armalite-type cut on upper). Can't wait to see what these are going for. I feel that a call to Dave Branson is in order here. <thumbsup>
  23. DAMN!!! :o That's about the nicest TLR I've ever seen - that thing is SWEET! THose bikes are just plain NASTY powerful. Was that Deals Gap?
  24. Very good point, ss. <thumbsup>
  25. Buttstock screws are all vented, if you're buying an in-spec part, that follows the intended design (the TDP). I don't think it would be possible to "air-lock" the tube, due exactly to what Jon said above, about the buffer and the 3 reliefs. The vented screw is there primarily for drainage, but it does push alot of air out of it.
