  1. If you run a bed-n-breakfast, or accept visitors, I'm in. <thumbsup>
  2. Most EOTechs have a 65-moa large circle, with a 1-moa center dot. By far, my favorite. <thumbsup> The only downside to any EOTech isn't really a downside, in a way - but a giant plus to Aimpoint. Battery life. Most newer EOTechs run 1100 hours constant-on. Some of the Aimpoints run 80,000-hours, constant-on. Not a typo. :o
  3. On CTD, make sure you're looking at where they ship from. Alot of times, you can get them even cheaper, based on how many they have in a certain warehouse. It might not be the closest warehouse to you (and be longer in shipping time), but their prices vary based on that. <thumbsup>
  4. Yep, Gun Gallery right there in Jacksonville. <thumbsup> Visited that place one, on a trip - very, very nice stuff.
  5. Both those receiver sets are awesome, but for personal reasons, I'd go Mega if it was my build. I have one of the billet 5.56 ambi lowers, and I'll be getting the stripped upper for it - amazing quality. For a shelf barrel, on the 18" range, you can't beat Fulton Armory. 18.5" stainless medium contour barrel, made by Criterion. Damn great barrel. Will it give you .5 MOA? You'd really have to do your part. That barrel is probably capable. Call Fulton Armory and talk to Clint about that. For a guaranteed .5 MOA, you might need to look at custom barrel makers.
  6. On those Troy rails, it really comes down to only a couple questions, in order to decide which one will fit you better. *** Quad rail, or top rail-only, with no rails on sides and bottom? *** In using a lo-pro gas block, do you want the rail to come almost right up to the gas block, or do you want the rail to just cover the gas block (gas block right inside the end of the rail)? Answer those two, with your preference, and the correct Troy rail will be clear (TRX or MRF). <thumbsup>
  7. Wish I could go with you, ss. Grew up in New Lexington, and shotgunned deer all over Perry County, and south. That's the one thing I miss about Ohio. <thumbsup>
  8. Hey Jon, did you order that scope yet?... <dontknow> <laughs>
  9. ss, there's no eye relief issues with a red dot, like on magnified optics. In fact, the further forward you place it, the faster it is to acquire the dot/target. No kidding. No alignment issues, once zero'd. You don't have to have the dot right in the center of the viewing field - it can be off to the side, low, at the top, whatever. When you align dot/target, no matter where the dot is inside that field of view - the rifle is pointed directly at what the dot is on. That's where speed comes in.
  10. jon308, before you get started on parts, post a picture of your rifle. We need to see the canvas we're working with on this painting... <thumbsup> <laughs>
  11. That sways every decision. It's everything to do with it. If you'd said 100~150, I'd tell you to but 5.56, with a specific bullet in mind. That really does have everything to do with it.
  12. Max range you'll engage a deer at. Answer that one first.
  13. If you build a 5.56 gun, it won't matter the configuration. You will be screwed. You'll need more than one. Mark that on the calendar. I'm just sayin'... <dontknow>
  14. That twist is suited more towards the heavier projectiles. 150s will work, through it, but the 168s and 175s will do much better, over those 150s. I'm just sayin'...
  15. That charging handle is gonna TEAR some gloves and hands up... Just sayin'... File that poop down, after a few range trips, or look for finger transplants. :o
  16. Ballistic Coefficient is the answer. 168 won't do it. 175 will. Because of the ballistic coefficient between the two projos. Muzzle velocity is not necessarily the answer, here.
  17. Aimpoints rock, through NV - specifically, the PVS-14. <thumbsup>
  18. In his imagination, he did - but I was the one sweatin'... <lmao> <thumbsup> She's STILL lookin' for "Jon," too... ;D :love4: I think I knocked her hip outta socket. <thumbsup>
  19. I mentioned Pelosi and Feinstein, but not in that manner. I'd throw one to Joan Collins, just for old time's sake. The whole time, I'd make her yell my name, too... Oh JON! JON!! JON!!! Hell yeah, I'd do that... <thumbsup> <lmao>
  20. That's AWESOME!!! <laughs> I know he was ready for Halloween, too, as Toby-Ghost. <thumbsup> I hate it for you guys... but, I hope Sandy LEVELED the ex's house in VA, and I hope she's now snowed down with 3 feet of white hell, on top of a leveled house. I'm just sayin'... Karma will kick you in the nutz at the worst time. I hope it's her worst time. <dontknow>
  21. Too many sites open at once - you're click happy on something... <laughs> <lmao> <thumbsup>
  22. This topic was a pinned topic until, when? Why unpinned? :o Purely based off Rob's personal testimony and immediate LGS education by true professionals, I think it needs to remain pinned... <dontknow> That's some pretty phenomenal poop, right there... <thumbsup> <laughs>
  23. THAT raises a completely new perspective... Hmmmm... ???
  24. I need 512s like I need gas tube roll pins... :o
