  1. Same thing with the Advanced Electrical class in the motorcycle school I went through. Same speech. Dude told me I got a 99 on the final test, and I argued with him. He tried that "more correct answer" shiit on me, and I broke it all down, by the question, and told him why my answer was "the more correct answer..." The lights came on - he'd been teaching this for 4 years. He says... You're RIGHT! Fuk yeah I'm right, based on your question. He upgraded my score to 100, but it bothered him deeply - he was wondering how many people he fucked over for the years with that question, and even talked to me about it afterwards. I just laughed, and asked "Did they graduate?..." Then don't sweat it... I had a SERIOUS problem with him telling me that my answer was wrong, though, when I had the shiit to back it up... It's the small victories, men, that count.
  2. Welcome aboard, from another Ohioan. Zanesville, originally - where you from?
  3. Especially on that bottom one - that's SBR all day long...
  4. SA makes a fine 1911 - that's a good purchase, right there.
  5. The Grendel can do things that the 6.8 SPC can't even come close to, for distance. It's a great cartridge. You won't be disappointed with one, not in the least. Before all this 6 ARC stuff hit us in the head this summer, I'd swear that the Grendel is the most perfect AR15-based cartridge ever developed. I'll never ever get rid of any of mine. I need more time on the 6 ARC, and need to do load development for it, before I can personally state that it's a Grendel-Killer. I think it's gonna go this way: Grendel is a hunting round that can shoot to great distances. 6 ARC is a great distance round, that you can hunt with, too. I think that's how the cards will ultimately fall. About the meanest round you're gonna load for the ARC is a Hornady 108 ELD-M or a 110 A-Tip. I usually run Grendels with the 123gr Hornady ELD-M, but you can easily run a Nosler 129gr ABLR projectile, which expands at some pretty (slow) remarkable velocities.
  6. Those 185 Jugs are badass at distance. You'll have to experience them next weekend. They're impressive, and I've been stacking them up against my handloads of 178 Hornady ELD-X, the expanding hunting projectile. Can't wait to try my 178 ELD-Xs on deer. Didn't get drawn this year, so maybe next year. I also just effed up and missed my Javelina Rifle deadline... FML. @Magwaonly used Barnes TSX 168s for his hunting ammo. The Barnes TSX and TTSX are unreal hunting rounds. Even the 70gr TSX in .224" will turn any AR15 into a badass hunting machine, all the way up to white tail deer.
  7. Scientific Research on the differences between a 16" barreled AR15 chambered in 5.56mm, one with a Carbine Gas System, and one with a Midlength Gas System, will tell you what you want to know. Now, be advised - we HERE have not DONE those tests - but they are out there on the Wild Wild Web. Results, too. All the way down to real recoil in ft/lbs, felt recoil, internal damage to the internal components over the long term, - ALL that. Happy hunting. I think that's the info that you're looking for.
  8. Oh, let ME restate your original post, just so you know what you asked... It's right here, below vvv
  9. ^^^ Well done @Lane, compiling that info - I'm saving those links, man. Tthat'll keep him busy for the next 10 minutes, until he perfects it and makes it better, pointing out all the inaccuracies along the way.
  10. If you would have read the article, you'd know exactly what OBT is.
  11. You asked an initial 2 questions. I answered them. You, now, after this morph of bullshiit that you have created - are on your own. I don't know the asnwers to the most recent rash of bullshiit that you've asked. As your questions got more and more off track, I tried to provide you towards resources that could answer them. In the end run, it seems that you don't want ANY answers to anything that you're asking, but you're asking off-the-wall shiit to try to prove how smart you are. And, I posed that to you, too - go FIND the info that you're asking about, and post it back HERE... With what you're asking, I can't help you - with how you've been here, if I had the information, I WOULDN'T help you... If I knew where to find the bullshiit that you were looking for, I'd simply tell you "Google it...". It's obvious that you only want to be combative, and just make up more to ask - and... Google is your friend. If you ever find it, come back here, provide links, and PROVE to everyone here how smart you are. I'll welcome it. Every day we learn something new, is a better day.
  12. Okay with me, too - good luck in what you're looking for. Adios. Oh, and have fun.
  13. Nope, don't give a fuk about them, either. Sounds like "Jumbo Shrimp" to me. Oxymoron. Have fun with your quest, though.
  14. Well, then - for your stated "Internal Ballistics" questions - go find people that are experts on your "internal ballistics" - search for whatever you want out there, on the www... Knock yourself out.
  15. The author was interested in as much accuracy as he could wring out of a rifle. One hole, minimal disturbance... I think that's what you just now re-stated your goal as?... One hole, minimal disturbance? I miss something? Those are your words, right?
  16. Not at all - that's Density Altitude, and the effects it has on firing guns (bolt, gas, whatever) at different temps and altitudes and pressures... I've posted about this, and the differences I'VE seen in my own gun's performances... 50 degrees to 113 degrees. I posted about this recently, and the differences I saw at 850 yards, between those two temps, same load. 8.5 mils of drop at 850 yards at 50 degrees, 7.0 mils of drop at 850 yards at 113 degrees. This was a recent thread that I posted...
  17. You should probably contact the author of this article, and ask him your questions. He might be the only one that will satisfy you... What you're asking about has nothing to do with "gas timing" - as you've now stated it. Read this - then contact THAT author... https://precisionrifleblog.com/2013/10/18/secrets-of-the-houston-warehouse-lessons-in-extreme-rifle-accuracy/
  18. Don't need a copy of either, and I don't care about them.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, the topic at hand is gas timing in a gas operated gun... Did I miss something?
  20. Read the book, or just keep asking questions. It's all up to you at this point. Risk it. Show me how brave you are. If you only shoot 100 yards, then what is your goal?
  21. Now, you guys are talking about Density Altitude... But you didn't know that before now - unless you're just asking questions to cause issues. Density Altitude will affect the speed of sound, speed of your projectiles, and small airplanes in flight - at altitude. Density Altitude is what they have to calculate, to make sure they have enough gas to fly where they're going to - and not crash beforehand. Read the book. Ask questions to the author, and not me. You'll understand alot more after you read it. Or, not.
  22. Read this. I've read it over and over, and every time I finish, I start it again. When you have questions about any information in here, make sure you contact Brian Litz, and not me. He wrote it, and he's probably better at answering your questions than I would be - about his work.
  23. Tell me why you think that about me - you formed that opinion somehow? That's not the case about me at all, and if you knew me, you're DEFINITELY know better. I like shooting long distance, more than anything else, and I do it often, and I don't do it poorly. If you're here to "ask why about why" - then you need to put in your own research to satisfy your own goals in that. We don't have any guess about your "why is why" - and only you can figure that out. Be sure to post up your results, though.
  24. In that reference, speed of sound doesn't have anything to do with it, not in the least. Speed of sound is 330m/sec. Projectiles travel alot faster than that, once fired. "Flame front velocity" all depends on the weight of the projectile, and the powder used, as to how fast that powder reacts to it's ignition, and begins pushing that projectile out of the case...
  25. Then put in the research, discover what you're really looking for, and post back your results.
