Primary Arms released their Gold Line mounts now - the ones I was talking about after SHOT last year. They're pretty damn nice, 0 MOA and 20 MOA versions available for the rings sizes that they make, and they're around $90 or so. Worth looking at if you don't want a LaRue mount, and can't find the discontinued old-skool Armalite mounts. I'm holding out, right now Doc. Waiting on brass. Going to backorder a bunch. Seems that nobody around here with a .243 Win bolt gun likes those 108 ELD-Ms, and I snatch a box of them every other week. I'm up to 900 projectiles. Sitting on 16lbs of Accurate 2520, that I use for my Grendel loads. I'm always on the hunt for the (now elusive) CCI 41 primers, though. I have feelers out all over the place for those things. I did make another call to LaRue right after the Fall Shoot - that was the 5-month mark. They told me I had a little bit longer to wait, and stated I was told from the beginning that what I ordered would be a 6-month wait - so I challenged the guy on that. No, I was told 1~3 months, at one week. I was told 2~4 months, at one month. I was told 5~6 months, at 4 months. I've been good about the calls, and bugging them, but December 17th is 6 months, and they'll get a call. I specifically asked for information on what was holding my shipment up, because DirtBike Tommy ordered a 5.56 18" Ultimate Upper mid September, and got it in 7 weeks... Told the guy that. Told him to be straight with me - he told me the Grendel barrel is holding me up... Shiit, we shot Tommy's 18" 5.56 LaRue last weekend... We'll see how the December 17th phonecall goes...

Shiit... This is gonna be a big $$$ one, and one heavy-ass box... If you need to arrange freight, we can deliver it to my work. I have a forklift there, and I'll offload it from the trailer...

That combo meets "the okay" category, so build it and fire it up first. If you need to get into matching the lower to the feed ramps that the barrel extension has, then use the "Dremel Chainsaw Sharpening Bit." Every Ace Hardware that I've ever been in carries these things. It looks like this: It's an easy task to perform, as the soft(er) aluminum will give way to your efforts, long before that steel barrel extension will - there's little worry of jacking up your barrel extension, if you pay attention to what you're doing. Fear not, if you take that course of action. Obviously, you'd pick another product and polish those nice new feed ramps that you put in your upper, so again, little fear of having projectiles smashing into rough-cut aluminum. Think it through - it's a very simple task.

Wilson combat put barrels on sale for some pretty deep discounts, if any of you guys that do "different calibers" for ARs - I'm a fan, and do them. They didn't list the barrel I want now on sale, but they do have some decent deals. Worth a look.
