  1. You're not going "proprietary" like every other new guy in the game, now?... (And the originals, ***COUGH***Iron RIdge***COUGH***)

The Stubb's marinates are FUCKING AWESOME, brother!!! Their pork marinate on a pork butt is outta this world. I'll marinate it for a full day ahead. 8~9lb pork butt, one bottle of Stubb's Pork Marinate and one bottle of the original Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce. It is killer!
  3. That's a different receiver curve than both Armalite and DPMS-based systems... Kind of a cross between the two.
  4. Working up the initial test loads tonight, and shooting it in the morning. Bullet of choice right now is the 130gr Sierra Game King. Powder is RL22. We'll see how this goes, in the morning. Goal is 100 yards, checking the charge weights. Working with 7 different loads that should range the FPS span of 2700~2800. I'm making up a bunch of extras on the lowest charge weight, so I can play with it at 500 and 800 yards. I hope it doesn't suck, on that lowest charge weight. At 2800fps, I'll have 3.0 mils of drop at 500 yards, and 7.1 mils of drop at 800 yards. For comparison, that flat-shooting 18" Grendel outdid the .308 bolt gun, and at 845 yards it was 9.0 mils of drop. This is 8.0 mils of drop at 850. If we get froggy, and put a plate at 1000, it's 11.1 mils of drop. I'm excited. P.S. @Matt.Cross we found a "new range" a little south of the Tank. We can do 1760 yards easy, there. We'll recon in the morning, and that's where we'll set this shoot up at for the load tests and playing at the distances. I'll report back...
  5. What's that? BADASS is what that is, brother!!! That's fantastic! But, what in THE HELL isthe hole in the back, by the RE?...
  6. The scope mount in your pics is actually backwards, man. For most modern scopes on ARs now, especially with adjustable-length buttstocks, you position the end of the scope near the end if the upper receiver, to gain proper checkweld, head position on the stock, and also get the eye relief that the scope was designed for.

Watched Hooper last night, as a tribute. What a great actor, for a whole lot of years.
  8. There should be on the Shockwave, with it's 590 barrel. Don't know on the Tac-14.
  9. Done, until I get the right gas tube in. And paint it. It'll get shot Sunday with the PA 4-14 Mildot scope in the BoBro mount - I raided that off the OD Green Grendel for now. The permanent scope will be in next weekend.
  10. I can get that for you on Sunday.
  11. FUK!!! Oh, it's a rifle gas system. So I took the chance and bought a standard rifle gas tube. It's ARMALITE RIFLE GAS... I should have known - the "midlength" .338 Fed barrel I got from them was not "midlength." It was Armalite AR-10 Carbine gas system...
  12. Depends on the brand. Neck diameter. PTG 308 gauges should work. Neck on the .308 is 0.3433", neck on the .260 is 0.2696". 0.2969". If the "snout" on the gauge is to long, it might not work.
  13. Hot DAMN, did I get a NICE barrel from UPS today!!! It's going together right now. Temporary scope will be mounted, and it'll get shot Sunday morning. I need to load up some test rounds... Wilson Combat .260 Remington Tactical Hunter barrel, 20" rifle gas,1:8" twist. Recessed 11-degree target crown. 416R stainless. Gas port diameteris 0.071". Weight is 1205 grams/42.5 oz/2.65lbs.
  14. That means it IS the older Matrix Aerospace receiver dimensions - I can get a few critical measurements from the older Matrix, if you want. Once you know where to start, it's on. Tell me what you meed from the Matrix, and I'll get it up here with pics.
  15. Get it on your hands, and figure it out, man. There's ONE thing, really, that's gonna determine what pattern it really is - and that won't concern you, with the kit you get... upper receiver threading. Armalite and DPMS upper receiver threading are different, but you're getting the handguard and its parts with your kit. Whatever you receive, your upper parts are included, so it kinda doesn't matter. What you do, for information here, on that, is invaluable. That upper is either Armalite or DPMS threaded. No matter what, with the pictures they show, with MagPul PMags in that thing - it's NOT the Armalite B-Model. If it's truly an Armalite model, it's the A-Model. Becauseof the PMags they show... Upper receiver threading determines this... Armalite or DPMS threading is your answer...
  16. Because, most of the time, it's not even necessary. That's why. Build a functional gun first - from basic parts. Determine the functionality of that gun after you build it - and determine if you need all that complicated shiit on it. Don't complicate shiit with complicated shiit. I have 5 of these things, in the large format. They all run - well - and none of them have an adjustable gas block. I probably have 15 or 18 or more AR15 variants, and none of them have adjustable gas blocks. Multiple calibers. MANY calibers. Build it right, and there's zero need for an adjustable gas block. Calibers I can think of: 5.56, 300BLK, 25/45 Sharps, (9mm, 22LR and 45ACP are blow-back, so they don't count), 6.5 Grendel, 308 Win, 338 Fed, and I'm probably forgetting one... There are multiple firearms in all those calibers, multiple barrels lengths, configurations, they all run. The only thing I have "one" of is the 9mm, 45ACP, and 22LR ARs. All blow-back. None have adjustable gas blocks. They run, all of them. I'm working up a .260 Remington this month, and I'm not using an adjustable gas block on that one, either. It'll run. So, with that - why don't you tell me why an adjustable gas block is necessary?... It's not a necessary thing - it only adds to the cost of a rifle, and it only complicates a rifle function... Your turn - Go!
  17. This is what you're buying, right? https://www.ceratac.com/Rifle-Classic-Kit-80-AR308-p/kit-308-r-ck.htm
  18. I'll be calling on this in the morning... If I can get this in 10MOA or 20MOA, it's a done deal. https://www.larue.com/products/lt204/?utm_source=LaRue+Tactical+Newsletter&utm_campaign=f29e9fa0ab-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_09_05_03_11&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_eca3a85af8-f29e9fa0ab-309817289&mc_cid=f29e9fa0ab&mc_eid=bd9d7dbc01 If not, it's gona be the LT745 for the .260 Rem.
  19. Is this Ceratac kit an 80% lower, or do you have to mill EVERYTHING in it?...
  20. Don't get wrapped around the axle on AR-10A and AR-10B here, not with this platform. The early Matrix M-762 set are the perfect example (as are the Ruger SR-762, which is the same identical thing). It's got the "AR-10 Cut" on the receivers, but just about nothing is "Armalite AR-10" about it. The early Matrix (and Ruger SR-762) had a weird bolt catch, if I remember correctly, and it had weird takedown and pivot pins. Other than that, is was straight-up DPMS-patterned. Completely. Don't chase this ghost based on Armalite AR-10A and AR-10B, man. That's probably not the answer here. BTW - those are some badass prints!!!
  21. Right on! - you gotta get some shoot results of it, when you fire it up. That's a nice lookin' one.
  22. Hey, man - nice build. Not trying to be a jackass here, but that Harris bipod is on there backwards. You lean into it to load it, and those legs are going to fold on you...
  23. Hell yeah - this place is all about technical information. We get astray often, and off-track easily - but the tech data is what we're all here for. You won't violate any rules here posting any of that stuff, at all.
