I'm debating whether to purchase a new Armalita AR-10 that takes their prorprietary magazines or one that

takes standard pmags from Magpul. I realize that the Magpul's are much less expensive but I'm concerned about durablility and long term use of any plastic magazines. Any input would be appreciated.

The proprietary mags are much more expensive.  I can tell you that from experience.  Had I known there was a difference when I purchased my rifle I would have gone with another model that takes pmags.  Just my .02

Stick with the ones that take the standard SR25/magpul mags. Less headache when buying mags, and also when you get another 308 you can swap them around.

I love my B model mags, built like a tank! That said if they were making the A models when I bought mine I would have went that route.

Prices for the B mags are coming down but I wonder just how long they will be made, when production stops then the prices will climb back up for sure.

As good as Armalite B mags are, and they are excellent, go with the A Model using P Mags. The B models I bet are discontinued within a year.

I wouldn't worry about it. The British are issuing Magpul mags with their L129A1 rifles (LMT MWS).

Well, as everybody knows, I'm the long standing Armalite guy. I've got nothing but the AR-10B mags......mainly cause all the 10's I've built are the 10B model. I've got, literally, a pile of the B mags. Those fukers may add weight and all (not really that much)..........but I never doubt if they'll let me down. They're tried and true. Hell....I had more issues trying to use some 10 rounders at a "friends" place back in May, then I ever had with any of my 20 round standard mags. (granted....they were new and never used before)

Now that being said. I've got a couple LR-308's that take the PMAG's. I've got nothing to complain about them either. They just work. It's not like Magpul is new to all of this or anything.
