Sisco
http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/massive-785-million-recall-for-popular-us-gun/ar-BBgoPPI My Dad hunted with a Remington 700 from 1950 on. Never once metioned anything like this. 7.85 million guns!
survivalshop
CNBC ? There's no anti gun sediment there . I remember reading about a child that died from his mother by a 700 rifle , she was removing the rifle from a scabbard on her horse & it went off , so they say , if I remember correctly , But I never read of any testing of said rifle to see if it was malfunctioning . Never heard of any malfunctions of the 700 till then & haven't since . Edited December 6, 2014 by survivalshop
planeflyer21
I heard about them plenty before that report piece...but not before the report hacking 60 minutes did in the early 1980s. It was an issue, they knew it was an issue, and they are now doing the right thing. Good on them!
jtallen83
Heard about this many years ago, a LGS stopped selling them for this reason. I've seen several videos like this;
98Z5V
This recall happened on or about 10 Aug 2014. I can't believe that MSN/CNBC decided to cover it YESTERDAY. Fucking idiots.
Zebra644
Some of the issue is people screwing around with the trigger pull weight and reset. Instead of buying a new Timney or whatever.
98Z5V
Remington's response to the CNBC "news" piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_KVS1hIbQg#t=
98Z5V
The more you look at this information presented by news media - the CNBC piece was reported a few days ago... I think it was RE-reported. The Remington response to that piece was from 2010... Awakening this information because there's another trigger recall? This new trigger recall doesn't have anything to do with the older news pieces... <dontknow>
survivalshop
Propaganda from the anti's . They have nothing lately to talk about , no horrible black rifle incidents . If we were talking about rifles I have heard of that had work done to them or the owner altered , then I would say yes , I have heard or Rem . 700's malfunctioning that were altered or not taken care of . A couple of hunting seasons ago I had my 870 Mag. pump gun go off with the safety on , not same firearm or action , but the trigger system had been sent out & altered ,as in a trigger job. The tip of the Hammer sear had sheared off , the heat treatment on these modern rifles is thin , just like any AR std. trigger set, you have very little to play with , if any . That's why I like the after market trigger systems so much. Edited December 7, 2014 by survivalshop
planeflyer21
Awakening this information because there's another trigger recall? This new trigger recall doesn't have anything to do with the older news pieces... <dontknow> Not in the article above but from one of the gun sources, this recall covers ALL the M700s since 1963. The previous recall was for a short run (comparatively) for recent models.
98Z5V
The current recall that I linked is only on some X Mark Pro triggers. Not all of them are recalled. <dontknow>
planeflyer21
I think it will do them good, especially if they adopt a "standing recall" like Ruger has on the 3-screw Blackhawks: send in your firearm, we'll install the new parts at no charge, THEN send you your fixed firearm AND the original parts back too. shibiwan
....it'll give Ceberus an opportunity to dump the Freedom Group for cheap. We should all get together and buy FG up. LOL.
