So two weeks ago I ordered a new Rock Island Armory mod# 581964 22TCM/9mm 1911 A1.

I picked it up this morning.

Barrel 4.25".

Single stack 10-round magazine.

Chambered in .22TCM with and 9mm conversion barrel and recoil spring in the box.

Parkerized finish.

VZ G10 grips.

Ambidextrous extended safety.

Beavertail grip safety with memory pad.

Magazine funnel.

Dove tailed fiber optic front sight.

Adjustable rear sight.

Lowered and flared ejection port.

Skeletonized trigger with over travel stop.

Full length stainless steel guide rod.

Steel frame.

Sweet 3lb trigger pull.

It's a fine looking pistol.

I also ordered 250 rounds of 22TCM ammo.

Pistol looks and feels great.

Only down side so far....RIA shipped the wrong magazine. They shipped a 17-shot double stack magazine with it. HUH??

I also own a 17-shot double stack RIA 22TCM so I can use the mag, but I'm having trouble getting in touch with RIA for the correct magazine for this new pistol. They don't answer their phone so I've e-mailed them, We'll see how that goes.

Micro, that round is based off of the 5.56 case and is the same OAL as the 38 super. You should be able to use 38 super 1911 mags.

RIA is putting out some pretty nice guns for the price points! <thumbsup>

Yeah, I tried that with my double stack 22TCM already. The problem is that the feed lips are too long.

The 22TCM is a bottle neck cartridge and after you load the first round into a 38 super magazine the cartridge shoulder is behind the front of the feed lips so when you try to insert the next cartridge the first cartridge's shoulder blocks any further loading. You can get the 38 super mag loaded with an uplula or loading tool only.

When I compared the 38 super magazine against the factory magazine the difference between the feed lips is dramatic, plus the 22TCM magazine has a much lighter magazine spring. This is even though the factory magazine is marked 38 super.

I modified the new mag for my double stack and it works OK, I guess, but I'd rather have the proper magazines.

Man I have fallen in love with this pistol.

I already liked the cartridge and this smaller version is easy to carry.

It has to be the most enjoyable plinking pistol I've ever owned.

Low recoil, accurate and enough azz for defensive use.

I see there's now a Glock conversion , an AR upper and Boberg has a prototype pocket pistol for the cartridge .

Pure fun.
