I've shoot over 700 rounds threw mine and have had 5 failure to extract. Happened with ppu and reminton ammunition. So what can I do to fix this it's kinda annoying. Thanks guys

The best and easiest fix is dont use that ammo  700 rounds and 5 failures on that ammo...lookin good I would say

PPU suks  (blue box) btw  blows primers I  wont use it. the Privi match is awesome 168gr,    :)  Wash

Check the extractor spring - disassemble the bolt and look at it.  If it doesn't already have an o-ring around it, put one on, and try it from there.  Wouldn't be a bad idea to just replace it, and add the o-ring, too.

Well I did lol and I didn't even pull my gun apart ruger uses a proprietary piston system and it looks like I don't have one. But to be honest the first four where my fault I had the piston set to max gas and it caused the bolt yo move to fast. And prevent the extracting shell to stovepipe. So I turn down the piston system and cleaned the shot out of it and have ran mostly match grade threw it but after 250 one reminton bullet stovepiped lol.

This is from a ruger engineer when I was having issues at first

Gas setting of zero will make it a single shot

Gas setting of 1 is hot load with heavy bullets (High pressures)

Gas setting of 2 is normal operation. If you're shooting standard ammo, this would be best.

Gas setting of 3 is for light loads like sub-sonic and bunny farts. (Low pressures)

I used a bronze Dewey brush on my chamber with copious amounts of solvent then the dry mop. Mine did a couple stove pipes then repeatedly failed to extract when it was dirty. Lube on the BCG good and I run mine wet too. Just keep it out of the chamber.

With gas on 3, and regular loads, that bolt is moving too fast and slamming/bouncing against the end of the buffer stroke.

Clean her up, set your gas on 2, and enjoy!

So, you're saying you don't have an extractor spring in your rifle?  You do.

From that vid you posted, it looks like the SR556 already had the p-ring on the extractor spring - your SR762 might already have it from the factory.  If it does, and you can rule out a weak extractor spring, a functional o-ring - then you can jump to the conclusion that it's gas pressure that caused it.  Rule out what you can before you jump to conclusions.

Well ya got me I'm not an expert. And I try to rule out as much as I can. That's why I came here for another opinion Edited by gogoggansgo

Call Ruger.  Their customer service is second to none (that's why you buy a Ruger).  They'll fix it!

My experience with Ruger was similar.  I wish other industries had the same level of customer support.  Could you imagine buying a used car, sending it back to the manufacturer and they refurbish it for free?  That's pretty much what they did with one of my SR9Cs.  Love Ruger!!!!!!

Ruger rocks!

I bought a used, out of production Security Six .357 Magnum.  The forcing cone cracked, so I sent it in.

Ruger adjusted the timing, replaced the barrel, replaced the pawl, put in new factory springs and returned the aftermarket springs to me, reblued the whole pistol, all at no charge.

And now they have a SR1911 Lightweight Commander.
