Cali_Ed Posted May 25, 2015 Report Posted May 25, 2015 Clean this more often hahah. What's a really strong cleaner.
blue109 Posted May 25, 2015 Report Posted May 25, 2015 I got "the shark" (as seen on tv) steam cleaner at a thrift store for $8. Thing is amazing with carbon.
ChaseFan9 Posted May 25, 2015 Report Posted May 25, 2015 It was a pain in the ass to clean Pics or it didn't happen <lmao>
Cali_Ed Posted May 25, 2015 Author Report Posted May 25, 2015 Lol ill have to take the rifle apart to show. The nib looks stained
Robocop1051 Posted May 25, 2015 Report Posted May 25, 2015 NiB can get a burnt discoloration. It doesn't effect the NiB. You should be using FireClean to prolong your NiB.
98Z5V Posted May 25, 2015 Report Posted May 25, 2015 You should be using FireClean to prolong your NiB. It's a little too late for that. Ed, you are a very dirty girl... <lmao>
Cali_Ed Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Posted May 26, 2015 Lol need to get some simple green maybe some rem oil
98Z5V Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 When it gets nasty like that, I just use carb cleaner. Blast that stuff on there, and it starts getting the junk off pretty quick. Or, a solvent tank. <thumbsup>
survivalshop Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 That looks mostly like soot . What ammo or Powder are you using & what lubricant are you using ?
survivalshop Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Some dirty loads , Just wipe it off , re-lubricate & go for another 1K ! <thumbsup> <laughs>
MikedaddyH Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Its not that dirty. The lube collects the soot on the BCG.
survivalshop Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Didn't know 4064 was so dirty That can depend on many factors with almost any Powder in an AR type rifle . Barrel length , gas system , weight of the projectile's being used & even the primer used for the loading . Round count one way or the other can also have a impact . I have been using WC 846 Powder for many years & its a pretty dirty burning powder , but when used in some loadings , is not so dirty. I would imagine the new Powders , like CFC , that have a supposedly anti fouling formula , would be clean with any loading combo . Since most of the popular Powders have been unavailable for a very long time , we have had to use not so popular Powders , even though they work great , not the first choice to use with our caliber or loadings for them . The AR ,DI gas system, is a dirty system & its just the way it is . Be it scraping the tail of the Bolt or the Piston of a piston system , burnt Powder residue is going to collect some where & will need cleaning .
