Magpul (MOE) handguard on DPMS G2 AP4?

I have been searching the internet and have sent emails to Magpul and DPMS trying to get a definitive answer to whether or not the MOE (Magpul Original Equipment) drop in handguards will fit on the LR 308 platform. And so far I have yet to find a positive yes or no answer. I know that both DPMS and Bushmaster make an MOE version of the LR 308 line, but I was unsure if you have to buy one specific to 308, which I cannot find, or if it is possible to use the ones designed for the AR 15. If anyone can help answer this, it would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to see pictures if anyone has installed them on their 308.

Are the modifications simple? What part has to be modified? It seems like the only thing that should be a problem is possibly  the heat shields. I know for a fact that the factory plastic glacier guard handguards are the exact same between the 5.56 and .308 models.

Thank you all for the input, I ordered some off of Amazon.com. I found that they make a larger model and a slimline model, I went with the older style larger ones, so hopefully that will reduce the amount of modification needed. When I receive them I will post again and let you guys know how it went.

Well, I got the MOE handguards and they went on no problem. I didn't even have to trim the heat shields, I just bent them with a pair of pliers and that gave me enough space to clear the barrel. I love the look of these handguards, very sleek compared to the gaudy look of a lot of railed drop ins and free float tubes.

Kind of an older thread but FWIW I found the Magpul Slim-line handguard to fit my DPMS AP4 barrel perfectly with no mods required.  Very similar to the MOE line of parts but a little slimmer.

One problem is this particular hand guard is designed to work with the A2 front sight gas block and is prohibitive of using the sling swivel and bayonet lug.  To do so, you will need to modify the front of the handguard in this area.  A simple cut and/or grind of the plastic would do it and it probably would not look too bad if done right.

DPMS does make a traditional round hand guard.  I think it's called the "Glacier" handguard and these can be found cheap on Gunbroker and E-bay.
