If you don't have a cut at the bottom of the HS Gage for the Ejector , it should be removed for Head Space check , the Extractor can stay , because there is a grove around the bottom of the Gage & it also makes it easy to remove from the chamber .

The Ejector installed with out the depression for it in the Gage can give false readings or interfere with them .

I check before Barrel is installed & after Barrel installation on Upper Receiver .

Thank you survival.

Will work on it now and check for head space.

Sooooo.

I may have found out why the bolt isn't picking up a round when the catch is release and sends the bcg flying forward over a round.(This was the original problem)

I was watching good ole Hickok45 on the Ruger SR 762 about 20mins ago the I noticed that the bolt on the ruger is sitting further back on the upper than mine is when on the bolt catch.

I just realized that the reason it chambers a round when using the CH is because It can be racked all the way back. But when sitting on the catch it looks about 3/4 of the way.(Just an estimated guess)

JT, SHEPP, WASH, SURVIVAL,

Can and will you be willing to confirm this?

If that is the case. I am assuming the BCG isn't "short" which I doubt. But maybe I need a new buffer system. I believe I am running the primary arms buffer system. Its a longer buffer than the shorter ones that I've seen. Or maybe a new spring?

Here is a picture of the bolt and a picture of the bolt sitting just over the rim of the cartridge. (I know stupid of me for using a live round but the dummies are a dark burgundy hard to see.)

Crash.  This is as stock a rifle as there is..when the bolt catch is holding...then you pull back farther there is only bout another 1/4 to5/16 of an inch till youbottom out on the butt stock. The bolt should never be where yours is if its being held by bolt catch

First pic ..you see the bolt behind the catch? Second with live cartridge..you see the bolt behind the mag and catch?

3rd and more........ you have been guided about buffers springs and  stocks... so why didnt you purchase the correct parts? The primary arms buffer system means squat to me...you say its longer ?

Then why did you use it?      Wash

Wash,

Yes I find it strange that the bolt sits like that.

Yes. In both of the pictures it is veing held by the catch. When charged all the way back. I set the catch thats exactly hiw the bolt sits.

How would you advise on going about this?

The bcg is the newest item I purchased. About a month ago on here.

Both. But I am running it dry. Im going to lube the hell out of it this weekend. And see how it runs. Been waiting for my head gauges come in before lubing it up and they're  finally here. Any steel mags you would recommend that will work with the matrix JT?

I have not tried any all steel but I would have to recommend the Lancer mags, largest COAL I've seen and very well built with steel feed lips.

From his pics it looks like the catch is grabbing the bolt carrier and not the bolt! Weird!

  Sure does .

I would be looking into my Buffer system & assemble the correct components .
