My Ma10 build

I could crush it flat and it still probably wouldn't line up. Going to have to get some shims I guess. The top ports (Cooley brake) are at about the 2 o'clock position. Long ways off.

Hoyt.  You sure bout that?  Never had a crush washer not work for me....I  do like shims too....so if the top ports at 2 you really should be able to use a crush washer....thats not even a full turn.        Wash

It is almost a full turn. I sanded in increments. I was only able to get it turn by a very little bit. The instructions say not to exceed 30 ft lbs I believe. No way in hell I could get it to line up and not exceed that by a wide margin.

If it was at 10 o'clock then it would probably go, but it is at 2 o'clock  and a long ways off.

Well my string of bad luck continues. My brake came today and it won't align with the crushwasher. I sanded on the washer until my arms gave out and it only moved maybe 3 degrees. Looks like it I have to get some peel washers.

Hoyt    why were you sanding on a crush washer?    the cupped end goes to the front...towards the brake when you get another one....ive put many a crush washer on and never had a problem timing the brake to the barrel...ever            Wash

Yes, I sanded on it. It is a crush washer, but I can't even get it to crush. I put it in a c clamp even and couldn't budge it and I know that was well over 30 ft lbs. Going to order.some shims. Done fighting with it.

Good news is I got the trigger adjusted to where I wanted it.

I read somewhere where sanding might help. I ordered some shims from Brownell's so will be gtg soon.

You know thats crazy that it wont crush...  you're supposed to twist on it till the barrel extension comes off  ...LOL

Hoyt...you best stay here in this forum...cause if you read somewhere that sanding will help ...you need to drop the sandpaper and slowly back away  HaHa

I appreciate the offer, but I will try the shims.

No worries.  For reference on a standard 5/8"-24 thread pitch one degree of rotation works out to be .00011" that may help you out when it comes to calculating shims instead of guessing. Good luck!

I recently received a muzzle device that came with a crush washer. That crush washer had no discernible taper side. Is it possible there's been a run of bad crush washers?

Okay, "mystery" solved. And a BIG shout out to Todd at SLR Rifleworks. I called to ask about the problems I had timing my new mini comp with the included crush washer. Without hesitation, he sent me three new washers. This was Tuesday, they arrived today! First glance told the whole story. I measured my original one, 0.102" thick. The three Todd sent were 0.151", 0.155" and 0.159", and the taper was visible even to my eyes. The original crush washer was defective.

Okay, TNArms is done.
