Yup.  There is at least a correlation between media protrayals and violence.  Grossman connects the dots very well in his book On Combat.

This is one of the very few things that my father and I agree on, and have agreed on for many years....the more of this shinola that is shown/reported on, the more shinola happens when other sickos copy it.
