AeroprecisionUSA AR15

I thought I was done for the year. Not so. Aero made me an offer I couldn't refuse. First, they had their "blem" AR15 lower for $63, so I got one not intending to build quickly, but just to have. The blem is one letter in the SN isn't fully anodized. Then, AP offered on sale an M4E upper with a 16" barrel and their M-lok free float. Had to have that. Then their bcg and the charging handle. Well, I had to take advantage of their offers.

Months ago I picked up several of the AR Stoner LPK on sale at Midway. These were customizable. So I bought the Geisselle G2S trigger. I like this trigger. Two stage, very light break. Reminds me of a real good M1 trigger. It's not perfect but I'd buy it again, and for $140 on sale it is head and shoulders above most other off the rack triggers I've shot. Got a Magpul SL adjustable buttstock with a Stoner kit of extension, spring, end plate, castle nut and buffer, and finished it off with the new Magpul adjustable sights. Both the front and rear (windage only) sights have very fine adjustments. Not sure I like them yet. I'm so used to the KAC iron sights. It all went together easily enough, only problem was installing the hammer. The hammer spring is so stiff it took a lot of effort to get it into place.

Otherwise, it shot beautifully. Only put 50 rounds thru it before a bad thunderstorm rolled in. Perfect function, no FTF, FTE, cases all thrown into a little pile at 3:30. Perfect.

I really like Aero equipment. It is very good, reasonably priced especially when it's on sale, and it plain works.

Here's a one year update on this build. I took it to the range many times, function was perfect, but the accuracy was unacceptable. Black Hills match, Federal match, IMI match, reloads, mil-surplus, didn't matter, nothing gave good groups. Groups shot from another rifle on the same day were great. Nothing made sense and I couldn't figure out why. So I wrote AeroPrecision and sent targets to them to document my accuracy problems. To AeroPrecision's credit, they sent me a mailing label and asked to inspect the complete upper I purchased from them. After inspection, they said the upper was "out of spec", and they sent me a new upper, completely assembled 16" barrel (I don't know if it's just a new upper with my original equipment, or if it is just a whole new complete upper.) I've had it to the range several times now, and the accuracy is much improved over what it originally shot, but it is still not up to where I want it to be. I will continue to experiment with different ammunition. If it doesn't improve further, I'll look into a high-end barrel replacement (Nathan, you reading :lmao:)

I got out with the AeroPrecisionUSA 16" AR15 with the new upper. This time I stuck my Leupold 3x9 on it, and used some of my best reloads (69 gr Sierra BTHP over 24.3 grains AA2520... killer load!) I'm satisfied with the new upper from Aero. Got a decent group from it.

I think the problem really rests with the Magpul BUIS. My eyes just don't like them as much as the adjustable KAC BUIS. So, when some extra money becomes available, I'll be switching them out. Anyone want some like-new Magpul steel, adjustable BUIS?

I hear Aero Precisions LPKs are less than desirable. I have owned a few with no issue but they are not newer ones.

Heres a post over on Full30 on it:

The guy who experienced the issues is a gunsmith  at a full auto gun range up in Montana. He did say their recievers, barrels and buffer kits are gtg ,though. I have had very little issue with AP products although I do prefer BCM or SOLGW.
