unforgiven
Thought this was interesting on the AK piston concept : http://www.alloutdoor.com/2016/10/25/pre-hillary-gun-day-iwis-galil-ace-308/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=2016-10-29&utm_campaign=Weekly+Newsletter
Sisco
Back in the Pre Clinton Ban days, Chuck Taylor rated the Galil 7.62 X 51 one of his favorite rifles, along with a shortened FN-FAL with folding stock he worked up himself. Israel took what they learned from the six day war and the Yom Kippur war, and the reliability of the AK in the desert, and worked to improve accuracy and better manufacturing/machining techniques to develop their new individual small arms. The U.S. stifled them by basically giving Israel unlimited M-16's for free. As nice a weapons as the Galil's are, free was hard to say no to, so the Galil's have sat in limbo for a long time. The 5.56 Galil was eventually overtaken by the Tavor, I don't know about the 7.62. I thought Century Arms was unloading some rebuilt Israeli based Galils in 5.56 under another name a few years ago. Reviews said they were pretty beat up with a lot of malfunctions.I always wanted to get my hands on a 7.62 model to see how good they were. For $2000+ though, I will pass. Good looking rifle though. Sisco
Think the rebuilt 5.56 Galil's Century was selling were called Golani's- a mix up of Israeli and American parts to satisfy American sourced requirements.

I still have my pair like in this photo for over fifteen years , I can't even remember when I purchased them , it was so long ago . Went to Made in USA NB 's most comfortable gym shoe I have ever wore . Now about the rifle , I like it , but as said , 2K is a bit much ( glorified AK ) , price is lower then any other Piston 308AR rifle out there though .
