Hello fellow hobbiest,

Haven't posted in a long while been busy with  school and work.

I think I'm finish with the small tropical fish mollies danios ect ect.

I am leaning towards  south american  cichlids only becuase I love the dopy little faces the parrots cichlids have. I really like some of the African cichkids but the guy at the aquarium said don't mix them because of higher aggression from the African  cichlids and the higher ph they want.

My plans are to get the parrot cichlids , some other compatible cichlids, maybe a Oscar or two but those get to big, maybe some bala sharks, pictus  catfish  or other fish in the cat family.

Any thoughts or suggestions ?

My filtration now consists  of two 350gph marinelnad  hang in the back filters and a diy self 5 gallon bucket canister filter. I'm debating buying a fx6 for 289.

Oscars will out grow your 75 gal quickly, you could probably get away with one. Never really liked parrots, they're a genetic hybrid.

I allways kept large groups of smaller/medium sized south central american  cichlids in my 75, Bolivian rams, sevrums, sajicas, convicts, fire mouth and some others. There's some disputes but no one ever killed each other, always had many places to hide. The other nice thing is with that group I always had a mix of cat fish and other odd balls in there too and they all got along for the most part

Ps and with that mix you would keep fast movers like danios too, they call them dither fish the action of them kinda calms the other fish

I like the fish that sits on top of a ball of rice... wrapped in seaweed... with lots of spicy stuff to dip it in. Yum!

I like that too lol

And I thought I was doing good with a 2 gallon Beta tank. I have a Dixie cup, compared to a 75 gallon tank.

I got a 180 if that helps any

Move up to a 350 gallon, then start with the small fish like my buddy did.  He had that Hawaiian trigger, a red grouper, a puffer, a leopard eel, a lion fish, some kind of small shark, a big odd shrimp, a few others that could fend for themselves.  The grouper was definately the biggest and the biggest pig.  The lion fish was the most impressive to watch during the kill.  The puffer was the most entertaining.

I'd love to have that tank, I'd still have it fresh water tho
