Looking at the Windham Weaponry AR10 platforms.. was wondering what they are patterned in..Armalite? DPMS? Was looking at SW MP10 but they have to many proprietary things on it and evidently people cant upgrade hardly anything since its following its OWN pattern rather than something else.

Here is the Firearm im looking at now..

It seems to be a DPMS type 308AR to some extent . here is a quote from a review .

A word of caution, though: the Windham Weaponry .308 platform was designed from the ground up with their in-house team of engineers, and as such, some parts will not interchange with other makes of .308 AR. This is a consideration to take into account if you like to have a few spare parts kicking around, just in case.

Here's one review of many .http://survivalcache.com/survival-gear-review-windham-weaponry-r18fsfsm-308/

Someone here a long, long, LONG time ago (like two servers back) said they view .308ARs like any other well-built rifle:  you can't interchange parts but they are darn nice rifles.

Back then the big three were Armalite, DPMS, and Rock River.  All used different mags and I went with Rock River due to FAL mag availability and ambidextrous controls.

Now everyone else is making DPMS pattern mag rifles, including Armalite.  But other parts are still proprietary.

And whatever your choice, you'll still have a damn good rifle*.

Bushmaster closed it's factory in Windham, Maine, when it was bought out by Cerberus.  They moved the factory.  The employees were let go (I think they were offered to move to the new factory).  They old Bushmaster employees started Windham Weaponry...  in the old Bushmaster factory...

So, it's pretty much a Bushmaster...

It's NOT the Bushmaster BAR-10 platform - THAT design was sold to Rock River Arms in the mid-2000's, and that old design is currently the RRA LAR-series rifles.
