survivalshop
V Seven Weapons systems is manufacturing this Upper & I think Lowers in this material . Shows 5.8 oz. weight & a bunch of other things its a better material . I haven't weighed an Forged Upper Receiver , but it can't be much more then that weight . Now a Billet will be , but even that will not be much more . I can also see a stronger material ( which is one claim ) needing less material for construction , would make sense , just not sold on this so called new material enough for anyone to pay that much more for what would work out to such a small weight savings . http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/upper-receivers/ar-15-upper-receiver-lithium-aluminum-prod97410.aspx & from V Seven http://www.vsevenweaponsystems.com/collections/upper-parts/products/2055-enlightened-ar-15-upper-receiver Edited January 12, 2017 by survivalshop
Armed Eye Doc
If you forget your bipolar meds and get an evil thought, you could just lick on the receiver to get some Lithium and calm down.

For manics yes, but there are some who will need Thorazine, particularly Democrats.
blue109
I think a standard forged upper without FA is around 7 oz right? I've never broken one or had one corrode so you are paying $200 extra for a 2 oz savings? Edited January 11, 2017 by blue109

mineralman55
http://www.totalmateria.com/Article58.htm More than you'll ever need to know. This is a relatively new alloy, not yet fully characterized as to all its properties. Certain formulations were designed for lower density and higher strength than typical aluminum alloys such as 2024 or 7075 for applications in the aviation or marine industries. Many of these Al-Li alloys contain trace amounts of zirconium, copper and magnesium. It's very promising, but too new and expensive for general use... yet. Love seeing stuff like this. "Do you think I can pick up chicks in this?! What about that car? Maybe if I get that cool 4x4 with spinner rims!" If that's the type of chick you want to pick up, yup.
