is this pre ban???

A friend purchased from a private sale a DPMS 223 cal. with a 20 in barrel, non threaded barrel, regular front sight , non floating hand guard, A 1 stock, fixed carry handle, and adj. rear site.  he wants to know if it is a pre ban rifle. serial number is 5 digits,. 13xxx. any help and info would be appreciated. thank you.

13xxx won't be a pre-ban receiver, according to the most common info on the 'net. It would have to be a receiver below serial number 10300.  Here's a good example:

 I have an Olympic Arms , preban Ar 15 & know of many more . All the Prebans are going for big $$ in the States that kept the AWB .

In Arizona (and other states no longer honoring any kind of ban), the "pre-ban" is just a marketing ploy to get more cash by the seller.

At current AR rifle prices, it is ridiculous to pay $1200 because it is "pre-ban," when current production for $1200 will get you a much nicer rifle.

Of course if I was selling said rifle...

Oly was always cool with their serial number information posted publicly.  You could research most of their stuff, after the factory disaster.  Prior to that, no info.  DPMS doesn't have any of that, and people have been pushing them for it for years.
