308 charging handle

I purchased a standard 308 charging handle (CH) from a FL based dealer. Well known to have quality parts. Installed it in a Aero Precision upper. There is a bit of bare aluminum now showing on the CH. Thinking that my CH may be out of "mil-spec", I stopped at a local gun shop to buy another CH to see if this would relive this wear issue. The only CH the shop had was a "slightly" used one, as the dealer called it. It had similar marks on it as well. My question is, has anyone come across this "wear" on their AR308 style CH? I know that there isn't a "mil-spec" for these style rifles. Just two similar platforms, Armalite and DPMS. Shouldn't CH for these two platforms be interchangeable? Thank you in advance, Wade.

I have a wear pattern also on my Tac-ops CH that is on an Aero M5. Rifle runs without issue. Wear mark on CH doesn't bother me at all.

I have wear on a BCM handle and one from LaRue but my TacOps does not show any wear. Doesn't really bother me, they seemed to wear a good bit at first but then settled in.

I actually pre-wear all my charging handles. I hit them with a 000 or 0000 steel wool to smooth out the surfaces. This premature wear has never affected the handle negatively. If anything, it assists with the grittiness when doing one handed charging.

  If you look at all the friction components (  area's where anything rubs against each other )  in your rifle(s) you will notice break in wear , just the surface coating . Now if you find metal shavings , that can be an issue .
