Couldn’t agree more. In retrospect I wish I had chosen a different career, though 95 % of mine was spent with life saving drugs, and mostly before the profit gouging went through the roof. I remember when we had an antibiotic that was $7.75 a dose and people thought it was highway robbery. Ritalin and Adderall and the way they are misused are a national shame. The Oppoids and their marketing another national shame. I would like to see all of the above perpetuators trails of so called “legal” prescription drugs.

Need to let kids be kids and work out their problems in active ways. I'll never dope up my kids because they have to much energy or are depressed. the medical community needs to stop using meds as the first and only treatment option.

Don't say that just yet  - if you've never had one with some Severe AD/HD.  I said the same thing - initially.  My kid's brain works way faster than his body. Like fucking Rain Man.  If he doesn't have the right med (in the right dosage), he can't even function.  I'm serious.

Well I guess I have never seen that. I just know people who have drugged up their kids and not needed to. Happened to my wife's youngest cousin. He was not an overly energetic kid, his crappy step mom just wanted him to be easier to deal with. now the kid is totally messed up and went from a gun loving, outdoorsman, hunter; to a snowflake who seems to have lost the kindness he once had. Probably more to that than just the drugs, but he definitely didn't need them. It was just more convenient for those raising him, than to deal with a young boy who just wanted to run around, use his imagination, and play.

That's the biggest issue - BIGGEST.  Parents that can't, don't know how, or don't WANT TO ...  PARENT.

I agree with this completely.  Every child has a mom and dad, at least biologically.   It is an unfortunate reality that fewer of them have parents nowadays.

As to medicating kids, it is done far too often to stop kids from being kids.  They need to run and play to release energy.  There are occasions where medicine is needed.  Done correctly, like Tom's son and my nephew, it focuses the energy but doesn't take it away completely.

That's what happens when you have babies making babies. Meds with supervision is not the same as meds without supervision. Then the key is proper amounts. Without parental involment a bad situation just gets worse.
