Sisco
A friend of mine just gave me an unfired Ruger 10/22 he bought in 1972 as a 70 th birthday gift. Wow! I have no idea what it’s worth, and wouldn’t sell it anyway. Well maybe to buy one of Rob’s CROM 338 Lapua’s, but thats it. I almost hate to shoot it, but I eventually probably will. COBrien
I have a soft spot for the old 10/22s. Real wood, fit and finish were excellent. They're completely different from the built-down-to-a-price 10/22s Ruger has been building for the last 10 years...
Robocop1051
That’s badass! Best part is, you can definitely shoot that thing! Those rifles were beasts and built to last.

mrmackc
This is a Ruger 10 22 Sporter with sling swivels and cut checkered walnut stock that I have had since bought new around 1976 I have added a late model trigger upgrade. This isn't the exact rifle but exactly the same rifle.
Sisco
Going to get one of those appleseed shoot type peep sights for it. Timing is everything. I just gave my 10/22 I bought in 1977 to my son, and took my stainless 10/22 to Florida. So this one becomes my primary northwoods 10/22. All metal and wood, no plastic. Removed the original barrel and installed a modern take-off barrel on it, added Tech Sights, and every part that Power Custom (Grandmasters, LLC) makes for the action. That's my Appleseed trainer rifle, right there, and it's sweet. Convert the bolt release to an auto bolt release - that should be mandatory on all 10/22s. You can do it at home, with a dremel or a file. Just remove that nub, and take it flat across there - after that, you add a slight curve, or radius to it, and it's done. All the Power Custom stuff for 10/22s: http://powercustom.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4&sort=20a&filter_id=10&alpha_filter_id=0 These two kits right here are what I buy when I'm doing one of these little beasties - makes for one hell of an action upgrade: http://powercustom.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=82 http://powercustom.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=80 Tech Sights: https://www.tech-sights.com/ruger-products/ Edited November 22, 2018 by 98Z5V

Prefer them to telescopic or red dot for that platform. Shoot great, precise adjustments. Like looking down the barrel of my M1A!
