yes just purchas you're butt stalk and required tube/spring/ buffer.. should be a kit that will suffice.  I believe oden and magpul provide selective length of pull butt stalks. 

Ive only built the opposite so i may be wrong? and short on better options.. but yes it can be done.

A1/A2 stock uses a rifle extension/buffer/spring. (A2 uses the same tube as A1 with a spacer)

You can "pin" a carbine setup in place to make it fixed but im not sure what requirements are in place for legality sake. 

Either setup works on any lower. The upper doesnt make any difference. A2 stock works fine with M4 upper.

What he said.  Only other thing, though - A2 is just a longer stock piece on an A1 rifle extension.  It takes the 5/8" spacer on the end of the extension to make that happen - and the A2 vented buttstock screw is 5/8" longer than the A1 vented screw.  You'll never get an A2 on there with the A1 screw.
