cvanwill Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 I am new to the AR platform. Haven't owned 1 in over 30 years. Now I have 4. This may be a stupid question butvhere goes. Are AR-15 and AR-10 handguards the same or different?
edgecrusher Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Very different. In size, thread pitch and barrel nut. First you need to know: do I have an AR10 or a LR308? There’s a difference, because only Armalite is an AR10. It’s a different thread pitch. If not, then you have an LR308. But is it high or low rail height?
jtallen83 Posted September 23, 2021 Report Posted September 23, 2021 Welcome aboard, look up the intro section and tell us a little about yourself. Different handguards just as Edgecrusher stated.
DNP Posted September 25, 2021 Report Posted September 25, 2021 To add to the question of do I have… If it’s and Armalite AR10, you have that. If it’s a DPMS or variant, you have that. If it’s RRA…etc. know what you have before you order anything. If you aren’t sure, post up what you can and folks can help straighten it out with you. Even the manufacturers are out there using improper terminology and it makes headaches and hassles for everyone when you get parts you think are going to fit and they don’t.
Armed Eye Doc Posted September 26, 2021 Report Posted September 26, 2021 This handguard comes with both a 16 and 18 tpi barrel nut. It is 9.05 oz without the barrel nut. https://diamondbackfirearms.com/shop/db10-15-black-gold-series-m-lok-handguard-with-barrel-nut/

shooterrex Posted October 11, 2021 Report Posted October 11, 2021 If it's a PSA upper it is DPMS high. At least on my 2 it is. If your talking standard handguards. My PSA 20" barrel was "midlength" and the midlength Magpul handguard a fit just fine.
