Short cycling

Rifle is not ejecting the first round at all still in the barrel the second round jams against the discharged casing in the barrel hard enough it slams the bullet back into the casing and puts a dent at the crimp.  Gas port hole is proper size what’s my next step?

Soft-point ammo has been known for quite some time to have some issues in this platform. I'm not saying that's the source of your issue, but it's an observation based on the picture. Polymer-tipped ammo will work better if you need an application for taking game.

Next step is details about your recoil buffer system. Spring manufacturer and specs, internal depth of your buffer tube, size and weight of your recoil buffer.

Extractor issue?  If it’s leaving a case in the barrel there’s an issue there. What BCG is in it?  Pics of the bolt face?  What was the ammo?  Factory or reloads?
