shepp Posted January 8, 2024 Report Posted January 8, 2024 Yesterday I went on about a 450 mile trip around trip around the east side of Wisconsin looking for snowy owls and rare ducks or what ever I could find. I think the looming storm put the damper on that. I did find a couple of cool old tugs in the Kewaunee harbor which is at the “base of the thumb” on Lake Michigan. One had Army Corp markings on it named “Ludington”. I like to go and google ships names I see on the lakes, and this one has some great history, it was at D-Day operating as a tug towing munitions across the English Channel. https://www.tugboatinformation.com/tug.cfm?id=1438 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tug_Ludington

Sisco Posted January 9, 2024 Report Posted January 9, 2024 A lot of history floating on the Great Lakes.
Cunuckgaucho Posted January 11, 2024 Report Posted January 11, 2024 There are a few old wooden ocean going tugs that have been converted on the west coast here. If you're going to run in to rough seas these tugs are what you want be in
