I had an early Kimber Stainless Custom (when they were all "Model 70-style").

Already had the Springfield 1911A1SS (at the time the only current production SS 1911as AMT, Randall, et al had gone in-out-in-and-under).

For twice as much money the first thing I noticed was the plastic MSH.  But the Kimber was VERY tight and well built, no tooling marks and a smoother finish than the SA.

It wouldn't shoot worth squat with ammo pushing less than 220gr bullets, any weight or brand.  With the 230gr ammo it sometimes shot a little tighter than the SA.  Sold it.

I've tried a couple of Kimbers since that almost came home with me...but I couldn't pull the trigger.
