AR-10 18″ Tactical Rifle

I have tried looking aorund for reviews on this rifle and have found very little.  Most of the reviews of Armalite stuff are from years ago and about models that are not made anymore.  Anyone have any experience with this Armalite product and willing to share their thoughts?

I bought my two AR10’s before the company changed hands and moved to Arizona. And that wasn’t one of the models offered so I can’t speak to specifics. I can say my two AR 10’s are of excellent quality and easily MOA accurate. One is a 20” standard rifle and the other an AR10T 16” bull barrel carbine. Mine are the “B” models which use the proprietary magazines. Most 10’s now are the “A” model now using Magpul type AR308 mags. Since they were sold Armalite has become almost a stealth company. I see little in print about them and no advertising. They use a totally different lower and barrel threads so they aren’t really interchangeable with other 308AR equipment for the most part.

Update: I loked up on the Internet after writing this and noticed Armalite has relocated again to Texas. Also that their extensive parts section is missing from their new website. If those are no longer available it takes away the best fix for buffer and spring problems in 308ARs.

Yep.  After I read some threads on buffers and springs, I looked for the AR10rekit01 6-position receiver extension kit online.  It's a little difficult to find, particularly because items with similar names show up on different sites and it is difficult to tell if that is the actual kit.  For example, is this kit the real thing?

nope. Buffer isn't heavy enough.

If you add a heavy buffer (Kak or Heavy Buffers) and a Springco Orange spring to a AR 15 buffer tube it will be OK.

The Armalite Carbine parts are not available online anywhere I can find.

I could be wrong but a Voltor buffer tube, H3 buffer and a Springco red spring. Is an acceptable solution I belive.

Armalite carbine buffer tube is 7 5/8"

Don't think so. Last build I went with the Sons of liberty 9 position tube, really like it, rifle spring (EA1095 or Sprinco Red). 5.4 oz  +/- H3 buffer.

Got the tube from Rooftop Defense

Primary has them also.

Not wrong. Vltor A5 length = Armalite AR10 Carbine extension length, 7 11/16 +/- internal. Correct on H3. Any H3, 29.00 same as 69.00 one.

Can't use Voltr A5 buffer, too long.

I found a source for the tungsten buffer weights for around $4.20 each, save $$ re-weighting lighter buffers.

Here is the Armalite carbine kit.  This is where Armalite sells their parts now

And Armed Eye Doc with the save!  Really though, thank you to everyone who replied.  That is a lot of useful info for which I am grateful!

A big question is whether or not Armalite still uses these parts in the rifles they currently produce.  You would think they would but when one assumes...

You can use the VLTOR A5 receiver extensions, perfectly. I have them on half my Large Frame builds, and I buy the blems from them for cheaper.  They're perfect. 7 5/8" internal depth is the real number.  7 11/16" internal depth is some mish-mosh from someone trying to sell parts.

NOW, I see what you said, @Albroswift - the VLTOR A5 buffer is 4.000" long...  and yes, you CANNOT use that in a Large Frame AR build.  You'll need a buffer that 5.4 oz, and 3.250" long.  Luckily, those are easy to come by, because they're just AR15 H3 buffers...

Yea, trying to be clear, OP buying parts didn't want him to end up with a 4" buffer, but then again it would be a start for a 9mm build, I've started with less...

Spare parts turn into full guns.  QUICK!
